Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Surgical Scheduler/Front Desk Receptionist to join our healthcare team. This vital role combines administrative excellence with compassionate patient service, ensuring smooth scheduling and efficient front desk operations. As the first point of contact for patients and visitors, you will play a key role in creating a welcoming environment while managing complex scheduling needs for surgical procedures. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-quality patient care and streamline clinic workflows through effective administrative support.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and schedule surgical appointments, consultations, and follow-up visits with precision and attention to detail.
Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing exceptional customer service while managing check-in and check-out processes.
Verify patient insurance coverage, process medical collections, and handle billing inquiries using systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks.
Maintain accurate and confidential medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies.
Review documentation including care plans, medical histories, CPT coding, ICD-9/10 codes, and ensure proper coding for billing purposes.
Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems efficiently, including data entry, file management, and documentation review.
Answer multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette, schedule appointments via Microsoft Office tools, and handle administrative tasks such as filing and 10-key typing.

Requirements

Proven experience in medical office administration or front desk receptionist roles within clinics or healthcare settings.
Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks; familiarity with electronic health records management is essential.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide outstanding patient service and demonstrate professional phone etiquette.
Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion in accordance with HIPAA standards.
Proficiency in medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), and health insurance processes including Medicare billing.
Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
Strong organizational skills with experience in medical scheduling, documentation review, filing, and office management tasks.
Competent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and familiarity with various EMR/EHR platforms.
Previous clinic or dental clinic experience is preferred; familiarity with health information management enhances your effectiveness in this role.
