Full Job Description

We are seeking a talented and dedicated Prep Cook/Line Cook to join our fast-casual hibachi restaurant team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing fresh ingredients, cooking entrees, and creating delicious sushi rolls to ensure our customers receive high-quality meals in a timely manner.

*NEED TO BE AVAILABLE SUNDAY AND TUESDAY SPECIFICALLY*
*AVAILABILITY DURING DAY PREFERRED*

Duties:

Prepare vegetables, meats, and other ingredients for cooking by washing, chopping, and slicing
Assist with various tasks in the kitchen, including food preparation.
Handle cash transactions accurately and efficiently.
Utilize retail math skills for pricing and inventory management.
Provide exceptional customer service by assisting guests with their orders.
Support bussing and cleaning duties to maintain a clean and organized dining area.
Operate Square POS system for order processing.
Manage cash register operations effectively.
Implement upselling techniques to increase sales.
Cook rice using rice cookers or other designated equipment
Grill, sauté, or fry meats, vegetables, and other entrees according to recipes and customer orders
Fry appetizers such as dumplings, spring rolls, and other popular items
Create sushi rolls following established recipes and guidelines
Maintain a clean and organized kitchen by sanitizing surfaces, equipment, and tools regularly
Ensure proper storage of all food items, adhering to food safety regulations and restaurant policies
Assist in inventory management and restocking of ingredients as needed
Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operation and efficient service
Comply with all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines

Qualifications:

Great with customers, and always smiling!
Experience in the food industry is preferred but not required.
Knowledge of food safety practices is a plus.
Ability to handle cash transactions with precision.
Proficiency in using Square POS or similar point-of-sale systems is beneficial.
Strong communication skills and a helpful attitude are essential.
Proficiency in English is a plus.
Willingness to assist in various roles within the restaurant as needed.
Proven experience as a Prep Cook, Line Cook, or similar role in a fast-paced restaurant environment
Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, knife skills, and cooking methods
Familiarity with Japanese cuisine, particularly hibachi and sushi, is a plus
Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
Excellent time management and organizational skills
A team player with strong communication and collaboration abilities
Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays

Skills:

Proficient in food safety and sanitation practices
Skilled in various cooking techniques, such as grilling, sautéing, and frying
Knowledge of proper food storage and handling procedures
Ability to read and follow recipes accurately
Expertise in knife skills and food preparation methods
Understanding of ingredient pairings and flavor profiles
Adaptability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic kitchen environment
