Controller Position

Job Description and Overview:

J. Masterson Construction, located in Danvers, MA is a leading site development, utility, road construction, snow removal and environmental company providing services for over 45 years to the commercial, industrial, residential and municipal markets.

The controller position will report directly to ownership and will be responsible for all accounting duties including billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, general ledger transactions, contract requisitions, job costing, WIP schedules, budgeting, expense analysis and financial reporting.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Full general ledger, journal entries and financial reporting responsibilities.
Month-end, quarter-end and year-end financial reporting.
Commercial and fringe benefit renewals, lines of credit, credit applications and prequalification’s, OSHA reporting.
Development and analysis of accounting information in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and operating effectiveness.
Communicate effectively with project managers, estimators and administrative personnel.
Process and ensure all AIA requisitions are prepared, including contracts change orders and T&M
Payroll reporting, job costing and cash flow planning.
Compliance and Asset Management and reporting
Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
4+ years of experience in construction accounting.
Strong technical accounting skills.
In-depth understanding and experience in accounting software, and an aptitude for developing and implementing systems and solutions to improve efficiency.
Ability to work independently, with little supervision.
Successful candidate should have a history of a strong work ethic and a strong sense of urgency and personal commitment.
Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate effectively
Strong analytical abilities.
Well organized, detail-oriented, and self-disciplined.
