Job Overview

Join our dedicated team as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) working Friday and Saturday from 2 PM to 10 PM, and Sunday through Monday from 6 AM to 2 PM. In this vital role, you will provide compassionate, personalized care to individuals with developmental disabilities, cognitive disabilities, and those requiring senior or memory care. Your energetic approach will help foster independence, safety, and well-being for residents in a supportive residential or community setting. This position offers a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people's lives while developing your caregiving skills in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
Support medication administration following proper protocols and documentation procedures
Monitor vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and respiration to ensure health stability
Operate manual handling equipment like Hoyer lifts safely to assist with resident transfers
Engage residents in meaningful activities and behavioral management strategies to promote mental well-being
Maintain a clean and safe environment through regular cleaning and sanitation practices
Document resident progress, incidents, and care activities accurately in compliance with regulations
Provide transportation using standard passenger cars for appointments or community outings when required

Experience

Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or cognitive impairments is highly preferred
Assisted living or long-term care experience in settings such as nursing homes, retirement homes, or personal care homes is advantageous
Knowledge of dementia and Alzheimer's care techniques enhances your ability to support residents effectively
Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; ongoing training is encouraged to stay current
Familiarity with safe patient lifting practices, medication administration, and behavior management strategies is essential
Experience operating vehicles for client transportation and performing home & community care tasks is beneficial
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, and team members ensures quality support
