Ocean State Recovery Center is a small business in Johnston, RI. At Ocean State Recovery Center we have decades of experience in treating individuals and families suffering from addiction and dual diagnosis disorders. Our program is designed as a step down process that integrates our patients back into a healthy lifestyle. Our evidenced-based practice in addiction treatment is coupled with 12 step fellowship support as well as medication assisted treatment. We have found that this approach is highly effective in treating individuals and getting them on the road to recovery..

POSITION:

Primary Therapist:

POSITION PURPOSE

The Primary Therapist is responsible for the management, group and individual therapy services provided by OSBH, including but not limited to; deliverance of clinical therapies to patient, group facilitation, documentation of all interactions with patients in accordance with 105CMR164, continuance of education and required CEU credits, and some oversight of behavioral health technicians. The Primary Therapist works closely with the Executive Director and Clinical Director relating to the program and clinical services provided.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

1. EDUCATION:

Graduated from an accredited college or university with a minimum of a Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or health-related field.

2. EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of 2 years clinical experience.

Communication skills to relate to all levels of management staff.

Experience in working with addiction in a residential and/or intensive outpatient milieu.

Experience in working with chemical dependency in a residential and outpatient milieu.

Experience in crisis intervention and conflict resolution skills.

Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain a positive collaborative relationship among staff.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

3. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

Licensure to practice clinical discipline in the appropriate State, as applicable, required in Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist, Mental Health Counselor and/or Certified Addiction Professional.

LICSW, LMFT, LCDP, LCDCS, LCSW or LMHC licensed.

CPR trained.

Valid driver’s license.

4. SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Knowledge of Psychopathology, Diagnostic Assessment, and Chemical Dependency treatment.

Demonstrates proficiency in communication, observation, and written skills.

Knowledge of State and Federal statutes regarding patient confidentiality laws.

Knowledge of drug-free workplace policies.

Knowledge of workplace violence.

Knowledge of corporate integrity and ethics.

Knowledge of addictions.

Ability to interact with a multi-disciplinary team to assist in facets of the recovery program relating to physical health.

Knowledge of the 12-Step Recovery Program.

Knowledge and competency in problem solving, stress management, ethics, and team building.

Knowledge of alcohol and other drugs that includes;

Alcohol and addictive drugs and their physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual impact on the individual.
Alcohol and addictive drugs and their impact on the family.
Ability to determine if a medical emergency exists and to take appropriate action, when necessary.
Knowledge of emergency procedures used in case of alcohol and/or drug overdose.
Knowledge of First Aid and CPR.
Knowledge of Federal, State, and Municipal laws and/or regulations that regulate the treatment of alcoholism and drug addiction, including:Confidentiality

Patient RightsProfessional Code of EthicsDiscrimination

Flexibility to adapt to schedule changes and assumption of responsibilities not delineated in the job description which are related to work as a member of an addiction treatment team.

WORKPLACE ENVIRONMENT

1. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

Position is required to work in a temperature-controlled environment; 80% - 90% of the time spent indoors.

Potential exposure to violent situations.

Potential exposure to airborne/blood-borne pathogens or other potentially infectious materials.

SPECIFIC AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY TO POSITION

Ensuring adherence to the required HIPPA and documentation requirements as identified by county, State, and Federal regulatory agencies.

Ensure clinical services are in compliance with county, State, and Federal regulatory agencies.

Coordinate client care with Psychiatrist/Psychologist and Clinical Director,

Review treatment plans, case notes and written correspondence in order to verify that such documents meet county, State, and Federal agency standards.

Oversight and audit of the clinical charts to insure adherence to county, State, and Federal statutes.

Develop, implement, and evaluate clinical operations.

Participate in morning census review and clinical report.

Participate in management team meetings and attend Board of Directors meetings when requested by the Executive Director.

Perform other clinical duties as assigned.

Participate as “On Call” in the event of an emergency or when appropriate.

Assist and work with the Executive Director regarding strategic and long-range planning as needed.
