Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and dynamic Operating Room (OR) Director to oversee surgical services within our healthcare facility. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in critical care, acute care, and various specialized nursing fields such as assisted living, home health, and hospice care. This leadership role requires a strategic thinker with proven management and supervising experience, capable of ensuring the highest standards of patient safety, staff performance, and operational efficiency. As OR Director, you will be responsible for coordinating surgical operations, managing multidisciplinary teams, and maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations including HIPAA and Medicare guidelines. Your expertise in physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and documentation review will be essential to optimize patient outcomes and foster a culture of excellence.

Responsibilities

Lead and coordinate all aspects of surgical services within the operating room, ensuring seamless workflow and optimal patient care.
Supervise nursing staff, surgical technicians, and support personnel, providing mentorship and fostering professional development in line with best practices.
Oversee staffing schedules and shift management to ensure adequate coverage while maintaining operational efficiency.
Monitor patient care activities including patient monitoring, care plans, case management, and documentation review to uphold quality standards.
Manage departmental budgets, control costs related to supplies and equipment, and ensure resource allocation aligns with organizational goals.
Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA privacy rules, Medicare requirements, and safety protocols for medical records and documentation.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive care plans tailored to residents’ needs across various settings including assisted living, home health, hospice care, and acute care environments.
Oversee EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems to maintain accurate medical records while safeguarding patient confidentiality.
Implement quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient outcomes and operational performance within the surgical department.
Foster a positive team environment that emphasizes leadership in nurse management, resident-centered care, and continuous professional growth.

Qualifications

Extensive experience in critical care nursing or related fields such as assisted living or hospice care; prior management or supervisory roles preferred.
Proven expertise in managing operating room functions within acute or specialized healthcare settings.
Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and healthcare documentation standards.
Demonstrated leadership skills with experience supervising multidisciplinary teams in fast-paced environments.
Familiarity with EMR systems for medical records management and documentation review processes.
Ability to develop effective care plans and oversee case management strategies aligned with Medicare guidelines.
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure compliance with patient privacy laws across all operations.
