Full Job Description

Role:

The Data Analyst aggregates data into decision-ready insights for leadership and executives enabling well-informed business decisions. Working within the Data Operations Department, the Data Analyst collects and analyzes data from core banking, lending, and member-facing systems — sales figures, market and member research, operational metrics, and more. This role partners closely with Data Engineering on data pipelines and warehouse structures, and increasingly supports the credit union's on-premises analytics initiatives by ensuring the underlying data is clean, well-documented, and trustworthy.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Analyze member, financial, and operational data from core banking (DB2) and SQL Server systems to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities that support credit union decision-making.

Design, build, and maintain reports and dashboards (Power BI, Excel, SQL-based reporting) that translate raw data into clear, actionable insights for business stakeholders.

Partner with the Data Engineering and Data Operations team to define reporting requirements, validate data warehouse outputs, and ensure data accuracy across source systems.

Document data definitions, business rules, and key metrics; maintain a consistent, well-understood data dictionary to support self-service reporting across the credit union.

Perform other job duties as assigned, including ad hoc analysis in support of regulatory, audit, and operational requests.

Performance Measurements:

Create intelligent, informative written and visual reports or dashboards that stakeholders can act on.

Identifies and implements key measurements used in the day-to-day management of the credit union.

Maintains accurate, well-documented data definitions and reporting logic.

Ability to analyze data efficiently and accurately at a high level.

Knowledge and Skills:

Experience: Three years to five years of similar or related experience.

Education: (1) A bachelor's degree, or (2) achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree (e.g., information technology certifications in lieu of a degree).

Interpersonal Skills: Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.

A high knowledge of mathematical and analytical ability
Report writing
The ability to analyze, model and interpret data
Problem-solving skills
Accuracy and attention to detail
Knowledge of data profiling and proven experience in data mining, collation and dashboard creation
Strong, professional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work with all levels within the credit union; confidence in your ability to anticipate what is needed; flexibility and ability to us initiative
Strong analytical skills with proven experience of managing/ handling data
A wealth of data management experience and working knowledge of reporting universe structures and processes
Advanced skills in presentation of data
Working knowledge of relational databases and how they are manipulated
Experience in using statistical techniques in a credit union environment
Ideally the experience or ability to learn SQL or JAVA
Excellent time management and organization skills and be able to deliver deadlines
Good understanding of business drivers and service standards and have a proactive approach to service improvement
Personable, positive and resilient creative thinker
Team Player with strong work ethic
A ‘can-do’ attitude and high degree of energy and focus on engaging with new ideas
Pragmatic approach to problem solving and ability to use initiative as appropriate
Friendly, confident and positive person who remains calm and professional under pressure
Must be able to work flexibly to meet the needs of the business
Excellent skills in Microsoft Office, in particular Excel (formulas, data capture and pivot tables), and in-depth knowledge of integrated business and accounting systems
Any other duties that may be required from time to time for the smooth running of the credit union
