Full Job Description

Henrico Federal Credit Union is a $500 million, member-owned financial institution serving more than 32,000 members who live, work, worship, or attend school in the Richmond Metropolitan Statistical Area. As a not-for-profit financial cooperative, we are committed to providing our members with financial peace of mind through trusted relationships.

We are currently seeking a BSA Officer to administer and coordinate the Credit Union’s Bank Secrecy Act / Anti‑Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (BSA / AML / CFT) and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) compliance programs.

Using sound judgment, detailed analysis, and independent decision‑making, the BSA Officer is responsible for overseeing regulatory compliance, monitoring and investigating suspicious activity and fraud escalations, maintaining required regulatory reporting, and ensuring the Credit Union’s policies, procedures, and training programs align with applicable laws and regulatory guidance.

This position plays a key role in protecting the Credit Union, its members, and the broader financial system from financial crime and regulatory risk.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Administering and coordinating the Credit Union’s BSA / AML / CFT and OFAC compliance programs
Monitoring transaction activity and investigating alerts, escalated fraud activity, and suspicious behavior
Filing Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs), Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs), Designation of Exempt Person (DOEP) forms, and other required regulatory reports in accordance with record retention requirements
Serving as the designated OFAC and USA PATRIOT Act Section 314(a) and 314(b) contact, including completing record searches and information sharing, as applicable
Overseeing Member Identification Program (MIP), Customer Due Diligence (CDD), Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), and ongoing risk assessment activities
Coordinating independent testing, regulatory examinations, and internal audits related to BSA / AML / CFT and OFAC
Maintaining accurate documentation, logs, and reports to support regulatory compliance
Providing training, guidance, and regulatory updates to staff and management
Monitoring regulatory changes and recommending enhancements to policies, procedures, and controls

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

Advanced knowledge of BSA, AML, CFT, and OFAC regulations applicable to credit unions
Strong analytical and investigative skills with the ability to identify trends, risks, and anomalies
Sound judgement and the ability to make independent, well‑reasoned decisions
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Professional discretion, confidentiality, and ethical conduct
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment
A collaborative approach and strong internal service mindset

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, criminal justice, or a related field required.
Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in BSA / AML compliance within a financial services environment (credit union experience preferred)
Prior experience with SAR and CTR filings is required
CBSAP or CAMS certification required, or ability to obtain within one year of hire
Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered
