HR Generalist

Company: Premier Health Group
Department: Human Resources
Reports To: Director of Human Resources
Location: Clifton, NJ / Multi-Location Support
Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Summary

Premier Health Group is seeking an experienced and highly organized HR Generalist to join our growing Human Resources team. The HR Generalist will support day-to-day HR operations across multiple locations and departments while working closely with employees, managers, and leadership.

This position will be responsible for a broad range of HR functions, including employee relations, onboarding and offboarding, benefits administration, HRIS/payroll support, recruitment, compliance, employee records, and policy administration.

The ideal candidate is someone who is hands-on, organized, responsive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced healthcare environment where priorities can change quickly.

Key Responsibilities

Employee Relations

Serve as a point of contact for employees and managers regarding HR-related questions and concerns.
Assist with employee relations matters, including attendance, performance, workplace concerns, and policy questions.
Partner with managers to address employee issues consistently and appropriately.
Escalate complex or sensitive employee relations matters to the Director of Human Resources.
Maintain appropriate documentation related to employee relations matters.

Recruitment & Hiring

Assist with the recruitment process, including posting positions, reviewing applications, scheduling interviews, and communicating with candidates.
Coordinate the onboarding process for new hires.
Prepare and process offer letters and required employment documentation.
Ensure appropriate approvals are obtained before positions are filled.
Maintain accurate recruitment and hiring records.

Onboarding & Offboarding

Coordinate new hire onboarding and ensure all required documentation is completed.
Ensure employees complete required policies, confidentiality agreements, HIPAA documentation, and other onboarding requirements.
Coordinate employee status changes, transfers, promotions, and terminations.
Conduct and/or coordinate exit procedures and ensure appropriate documentation is completed.
Ensure employee records are updated timely following employment changes.

Payroll & Timekeeping

Support payroll processing and review employee timecards for accuracy.
Monitor timekeeping records and assist managers with correcting discrepancies before payroll deadlines.
Assist with payroll-related questions and issues.
Coordinate with Payroll/Paychex regarding employee changes, deductions, taxes, and corrections.
Maintain accurate records of employee status and compensation changes.

Benefits Administration

Assist employees with questions regarding medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, and other benefit programs.
Support new hire benefit enrollment and qualifying life event changes.
Assist with open enrollment activities.
Work with benefits vendors and carriers to resolve eligibility and enrollment discrepancies.
Maintain accurate benefits records.

HRIS & Employee Records

Maintain accurate and confidential employee records within the HRIS and other HR systems.
Process employee changes, including new hires, terminations, compensation changes, transfers, and status changes.
Conduct regular audits of employee records to identify discrepancies.
Maintain organized electronic and physical personnel files.
Ensure sensitive employee information is handled confidentially.

Compliance & Policies

Assist with maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
Assist with maintaining and distributing company policies and employee handbook updates.
Track required employee acknowledgments and documentation.
Support compliance reporting and audits as needed.
Maintain confidentiality of employee and company information.

HR Operations

Assist with HR projects and initiatives across Premier Health Group.
Support HR operations across multiple locations and service lines.
Help standardize HR processes and improve efficiency across the organization.
Assist with employee communications and company-wide HR announcements.
Support leadership with HR reporting, employee data, and workforce information.
Perform other HR-related duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
3+ years of progressive HR experience in a generalist or similar HR role.
Healthcare or multi-location experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of HR practices, employee relations, onboarding, benefits, payroll, and HR compliance.
Experience working with an HRIS/payroll system; Paychex experience is a plus.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with managers and leadership.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced and changing environment.
