Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Direct Support Professional (Lead DSP) to oversee caregiving operations within our residential care setting. The Lead DSP will play a pivotal role in guiding team members, ensuring the delivery of exceptional person-centered care, and maintaining compliance with health and safety standards. This position offers an opportunity to lead with compassion while making a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with diverse needs.

Duties

Supervise and mentor direct support staff, fostering a positive team environment that promotes professional growth and high-quality care.
Coordinate daily caregiving activities, ensuring residents’ needs are met with dignity and respect.
Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, grooming, and mobility support.
Monitor residents’ health status by taking vital signs and recognizing changes that require medical attention.
Support residents with memory care needs, including Alzheimer’s and dementia care, utilizing specialized techniques for behavioral management.
Administer medication following prescribed protocols, ensuring accuracy and safety at all times.
Operate manual handling equipment such as Hoyer lifts safely to prevent injury during resident transfers.
Maintain detailed documentation using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems to track care activities and resident progress.

Requirements

Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or residential care homes with a focus on geriatrics or memory care.
Demonstrated knowledge of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease care practices, including behavior management strategies.
Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional training in safe patient lifting practices is preferred.
Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or cognitive impairments is highly desirable.
Ability to operate standard passenger vehicles for transportation purposes when necessary.
Strong communication skills for effective interaction with residents, families, and team members.
Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling tasks safely throughout shifts.
Familiarity with EMR systems, medication administration protocols, and home & community care standards is advantageous.
