Job Title: Experienced Bistro/Restaurant Attendant

Job Summary
The Courtyard by Marriott Riverside / UCR / Moreno Valley is seeking a highly adaptable and service-driven Bistro Attendant to join our team. This is a cross-functional hospitality role requiring the ability to perform as a server, bartender, cook, and cashier while delivering consistent, elevated guest service.
Bistro Attendants are responsible for managing the full guest experience—from greeting and order taking to food preparation, beverage service, and check management. This position operates in a cashless environment and requires frequent and accurate use of the Oracle POS system. The ideal candidate is comfortable multitasking, maintains strong attention to detail, and understands that excellent service includes efficiency, professionalism, and hospitality at every point of interaction.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Service & Serving
- Greet guests warmly and professionally, creating a welcoming atmosphere aligned with Marriott brand standards
- Take accurate food and beverage orders using the Oracle POS system, including modifications and special dietary requests
- Serve food and beverages promptly while ensuring proper presentation and service etiquette
- Monitor guest satisfaction, anticipate needs, and provide attentive follow-up throughout the dining experience
- Resolve guest concerns professionally and communicate issues to leadership when needed
Bartending & Beverage Service
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to established recipes and portion standards
- Maintain working knowledge of spirits, beer, wine, cocktails, and mixers, including storage locations
- Ensure compliance with responsible alcohol service guidelines
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and restocking of the bar area throughout service
Cooking & Food Preparation
- Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes, quality standards, and timing expectations
- Assist with food prep, plating, and garnishing during service periods
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen and prep area
- Follow all food safety, temperature control, and sanitation standards
Cashier & POS Responsibilities (Cashless Operation)
- Operate the Oracle POS system efficiently and accurately for all guest transactions
- Open, manage, split, rename, and close checks as needed
- Apply discounts, void items, split items, and process digital payments accurately
- Maintain familiarity with AM and PM menus and POS libraries
- Correctly use open food, open liquor, open wine, and retail items within the POS system
Operational Support & Cleanliness
- Maintain cleanliness of dining areas, service stations, bar, and kitchen throughout shifts
- Restock food, beverage, and service supplies as needed
- Assist with catering, banquet, and special events, including setup, service, and breakdown
- Support inventory awareness and communicate supply needs to leadership
- Work collaboratively with kitchen and front-of-house team members to ensure smooth operations
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a server or bartender required
- Prior experience in restaurant service, bistro operations, fine dining, catering, or banquet environments preferred
- Experience working in fast-paced, high-volume service environments
- POS experience preferred; Oracle POS experience strongly preferred
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation practices, and dietary accommodations
- Strong multitasking skills with the ability to transition seamlessly between service, bar, kitchen, and cashier duties
- Excellent communication skills and a consistent guest-focused mindset
- Possess Riverside Food Handler's certification and RBS certification or equivalent.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8 hours per shift)
- Ability to lift, carry, and move items weighing up to 40 pounds (cases of beverages, supplies, trays)
- Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, and pulling during service and setup
- Ability to carry food and beverage trays and operate bar and kitchen equipment safely
- Manual dexterity to operate POS systems, prepare drinks, and handle food safely
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with varying temperatures, including kitchen and bar areas
