Job Summary

Kindful Restoration is seeking responsible, dependable, and compassionate House Managers for both male and female transitional homes in Riverside, CA. The House Manager lives onsite in a separate 1-bedroom unit and helps maintain a safe, structured, respectful, and supportive home environment for residents working toward stability, recovery, reentry, employment, and long-term independence.

This position is ideal for someone who has a heart for service, strong boundaries, good communication skills, and the ability to work respectfully with justice-involved individuals and people from all walks of life. Lived experience is welcome when aligned with professionalism, healthy boundaries, and the ability to support others in a structured home setting.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain a safe, clean, structured, and supportive living environment for residents.

Provide onsite support, oversight, and daily accountability for residents in the home.

Monitor resident compliance with house rules, curfew, chores, visitor expectations, program requirements, and daily structure.

Communicate regularly with Kindful Restoration leadership, case managers, Community Health Workers, and program staff regarding resident progress, concerns, needs, and incidents.

Support residents with stabilizing in the community, including encouragement around employment, appointments, treatment participation, budgeting, savings, life skills, and permanent housing goals.

Complete daily documentation, house logs, incident reports, resident updates, and required communication in a timely and accurate manner.

Conduct regular walkthroughs of the home to ensure cleanliness, safety, and maintenance needs are addressed.

Report maintenance concerns, safety issues, emergencies, behavioral concerns, or policy violations to leadership immediately.

Promote a respectful, peaceful, and recovery-supportive home environment.

Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality at all times.

Assist with resident intakes, move-ins, orientations, and move-outs as directed.

Help ensure residents are connected to Kindful Restoration services, appointments, groups, case management, and community resources.

Respond calmly and professionally to resident conflicts, emergencies, or after-hours concerns.

Support a culture of accountability, kindness, personal responsibility, and community restoration.

Required Qualifications

Experience in housing, sober living, transitional housing, residential support, case management, peer support, reentry services, behavioral health, recovery support, or community services preferred.

Ability to live onsite in a separate 1-bedroom unit provided by Kindful Restoration.

Strong communication, documentation, organization, and follow-up skills.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.

Ability to work respectfully with justice-involved individuals and people from diverse backgrounds.

Ability to enforce rules fairly, calmly, and consistently.

Basic computer and phone skills for documentation, communication, and reporting.

Dependable, patient, mature, and solution-focused.

Ability to pass background screening requirements.

Valid California driver’s license preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

Lived experience with recovery, reentry, housing stability, system navigation, or overcoming personal barriers is valued when appropriate and aligned with the role.

Peer Support certification, SUD certification, Community Health Worker certification, or related training preferred.

Experience working with adult men or women in a structured housing environment.

Knowledge of behavioral health, substance use recovery, homelessness, reentry barriers, and community resources.

Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.

Schedule and Housing Benefit

This is an onsite residential position. The House Manager is provided a separate 1-bedroom onsite unit, rent free, in addition to salary compensation.

Because this is a residential support role, the House Manager must be available for onsite support, resident oversight, emergencies, and communication as needed. Specific schedule expectations will be discussed during the hiring process.

Work Environment

The House Manager works in a transitional home setting and may interact daily with residents, Kindful Restoration staff, community partners, service providers, and program leadership.

The home environment must remain safe, respectful, clean, and supportive for all residents.

Physical Requirements

Ability to walk throughout the home and property as needed.

Ability to use a phone, computer, and electronic documentation systems.

Ability to complete basic household inspections and report maintenance concerns.

Ability to respond to urgent needs or incidents in the home.

Ability to lift and carry light household or program supplies as needed.
