Full Job Description

POSITION TITLE: Volunteer Coordinator

REPORTS TO: Director of Community & Volunteer Engagement

PURPOSE: This position will be responsible for recruiting, scheduling, coordinating, and recognizing volunteers for the affiliate on the construction sites, office and special events.

This is a full-time position

Typical work schedule Tuesday-Saturday with exception of special events

DRUG SCREEN AND BACKGROUND CHECK REQUIRED.

Key Responsibilities:

Respond to inquiries via phone, email and in-person any inquiries about volunteer program, volunteer needs, etc.
Oversee volunteer dept email and phone line respond to emails and voicemails in timely manner.
Oversee the court-ordered community service volunteer program from initial inquiry through successful completion, ensuring accurate documentation, compliance with program requirements, and timely issuance of completion letters.
Maintain communication with all staff and understand their volunteer needs for the construction sites, office, special events, Restores, and misc. projects.
Maintain files and documentation up to date of volunteers.
Provide on-site assistance to volunteers and staff when necessary.
Greet groups on construction sites, providing orientation, safety briefing and documentation of volunteer hours. Coordinate lunch on occasion.
Coordinate and implement volunteer appreciation gestures/gifts/events.
Assist in the recruitment of new volunteers and groups.
Work with the Communications Specialist in keeping social media outlets current with volunteer information and happenings.
Recruit, train, assign, and oversee volunteers for all signature events as well as smaller events.

Essential Job Functions:

Ability to read and interpret reports, write reports and business correspondence
Computer skills: Microsoft Office programs
Ability to sit stationary or walk and stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to twist, turn, bend, stoop, climb, reach, push, pull and lift/carry up to 30 pounds. Typical office setting; limited travel may be required, fast paced environment with medium-high stress based on multiple projects, deadlines, timelines and the need to react quickly and respond quickly.

Experience:

Prior experience working with volunteers
Prior experience working in the not-for-profit sector preferred

Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and with all levels of staff (including Executive leadership, Directors, Managers, Office staff, and Construction staff)
Enthusiastic and positive attitude towards helping others
Strong verbal communication skills, excellent writing skills, and interpersonal skills
Effective in multi- tasking and managing a wide array of projects and responsibilities
Proficient in computer skills and applications such as Word, Excel, Publisher, Outlook, and social media usage a must
Some database skills preferred
