EXPERIENCED FINISH CARPENTER – CUSTOM RESIDENTIAL CONSTRUCTION - 4 DAY WORK WEEK (Mon-Thurs)
Pay: $25–$30 per hour, based on demonstrated skill and experience

Alouf Custom Builders is a locally owned, third-generation custom builder serving Roanoke and the surrounding areas. We specialize in custom homes, additions, garages, and residential remodeling.
POSITION OVERVIEW
We are looking for a highly experienced finish carpenter with the knowledge and craftsmanship needed to complete intricate, specialized residential work. This is not a general labor or production-framing position.
The right candidate will understand the entire residential construction process and know how to frame and read construction plans but will be especially accomplished in detailed finish and custom carpentry. We need someone who can perform the specialized, high-quality work that distinguishes a custom-built project from standard construction.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform detailed interior and exterior finish carpentry
- Install doors, windows, cabinets, hardware, trim, molding, and other custom features
- Create and install specialized architectural details and custom-built components
- Complete remodeling work while carefully matching or integrating existing finishes
- Read and accurately work from construction plans and specifications
- Perform residential framing when needed
- Measure, lay out, cut, assemble, and install materials accurately
- Identify jobsite challenges and develop practical solutions
- Complete assigned work correctly with minimal supervision
- Work effectively with lead carpenters and other team members
- Maintain clean, safe, and professional jobsites
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of eight years of hands-on residential carpentry experience
- At least five years of finish, trim, or custom carpentry experience
- Advanced finish-carpentry skills and exceptional attention to detail
- Proven experience creating or installing specialized architectural details, custom trim, built-ins, cabinetry, or similar custom features
- Strong working knowledge of residential framing and construction methods
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans
- Ability to measure, lay out, fabricate, and install detailed work accurately
- Ability to work independently without constant supervision
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Dependability, professionalism, and pride in craftsmanship
- Must have basic personal carpentry tools
Applicants whose experience is primarily production framing, general construction, or handyman work will not meet the requirements for this position.
DRIVER AND TRANSPORTATION REQUIREMENTS
- Valid driver’s license required
- Must have reliable personal transportation to travel to and between jobsites throughout the workday
- Must be able to reliably transport personal carpentry tools to each jobsite
PAY
$25–$30 per hour
Starting pay will be based on demonstrated carpentry knowledge, finish-work ability, experience, workmanship, and ability to work independently.
WHAT WE OFFER
- Four-day workweek: Monday–Thursday, four 10-hour days

SCHEDULE AND WORK AREA
- Full-time, 40 hours per week
