Full Job Description

Job Summary:

The Center Store Manager oversees purchasing, receiving, merchandising, and overall operations for the grocery, produce, wellness, bulk, and related sections.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervises Grocery Leads and Grocery Team Members.
Supervises Produce Leads and Produce Team Members.
Directs workflow in both Grocery and Produce departments and oversees scheduling of both departments in line with the needs of the store.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Sets buyer expectations and oversees inventory levels, ordering, receiving, and resets conducted by store buyers.
Establishes department budgetary goals and shrink guidelines to ensure margin targets are met.
Coordinates shelf planning, planograms, and merchandising standards with buying and merchandizing staff.
Fosters relationships with distributors, vendors and local producers.
Monitors department sales, margins, and shrink, initiates adjustments to keep departments in line with their budgetary goals.
Ensures accurate signage and promotional materials.
Trains and coaches staff in the grocery and produce departments in stocking, culling, rotating, customer service, and product knowledge.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Abilities:

Familiarity with natural foods and local product sourcing.
Strong product knowledge of produce, seasonality, food sovereignty, and organic standards.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Strong and compassionate leadership approach.
Ability to identify department needs and generate standard operating procedures.

Education & Experience:

High school diploma required.
2–4 years of grocery retail experience; leadership preferred.
Retail buying and receiving experience strongly preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to climb ladders and stock shelving.
Frequent walking and bending.

Work Environment:

Active retail environment with frequent physical tasks.

Reports Directly to: General Manager

Classification: Non-Exempt

Pay Range: $24 - $27

Role Level: Class 4

Location: 571 South Ave.

Union Position: Non-Union

Work Location: Center Store

Pay: $24.00 - $27.00 per hour
