Full Job Description

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Bankruptcy Paralegal to support attorneys in managing bankruptcy matters from initial client intake through case completion. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of bankruptcy procedures, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced legal environment.

Responsibilities

Prepare motions for relief relating to mortgages and related documents.
Review client financial documents for accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
Prepare and electronically file documents with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court.
Monitor case dockets, deadlines, hearings, and filing requirements.
Communicate with clients regarding case status, required documentation, deadlines, and next steps.
Prepare and organize documents for hearings, meetings of creditors, and other proceedings.
Assist with proofs of claim, and related filings.
Review plans and claims and assist with resolving discrepancies.
Coordinate with trustees, creditors, court personnel, and opposing counsel as directed.
Maintain accurate and organized electronic case files.
Assist attorneys with discovery, motions, objections, and other bankruptcy-related matters.
Ensure compliance with applicable court rules, procedures, and filing deadlines.
Perform administrative and other legal support duties as assigned.

Qualifications

2+ years of bankruptcy paralegal experience preferred.
Knowledge of Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy procedures, knowledge on other Chapters is a plus.
Familiarity with bankruptcy court filing procedures and electronic filing systems.
Strong understanding of bankruptcy forms, schedules, statements, and deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
Ability to prioritize multiple cases and meet time-sensitive deadlines.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal case-management software.
Ability to handle confidential financial and personal information professionally.
Paralegal certificate or relevant legal education preferred.
