Full Job Description

Summary

The Finance Director is accountable for leading the finance function, providing strategic financial direction, and ensuring accurate, timely, legally compliant, and insightful financial reporting for senior leadership and stakeholders. The role provides oversight of accounting operations, financial controls, budgeting, forecasting, performance analysis, business partnering, legal and regulatory compliance, ownership of the accounting system, and management of the third-party IT supplier to support sound decision-making, system reliability, and sustainable business performance.

LOCATION: Onsite

SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday

Responsibilities

Lead the finance function and provide strategic financial guidance to senior leadership, ensuring financial plans support business priorities and operational performance.
Oversee the accounting team to ensure robust financial governance, accurate reporting, and consistent application of accounting policies and controls.
Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting cycle, reviewing outputs prepared by the Controller and ensuring timely, accurate, and meaningful reporting to leadership.
Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning, translating business plans into clear financial targets, risks, and opportunities.
Provide commercial insight, variance analysis, and performance reporting to support data-driven decisions across the business.
Develop and maintain robust planning and forecasting processes, including rolling forecasts, scenario modelling, and clear assumptions that support timely business decisions.
Partner with department heads and operational leaders to improve financial understanding, ownership of budgets, and delivery of business objectives.
Challenge and support operational decisions through clear financial analysis, scenario planning, and recommendations.
Lead initiatives to improve finance processes, reporting tools, automation, and the quality of management information.
Ensure appropriate internal controls, financial policies, and accounting procedures are in place and operating effectively across the business.
Oversee audit, tax, statutory, and regulatory requirements, working with the Controller and external advisers as required.
Identify financial risks and opportunities and recommend actions to protect business performance and strengthen financial resilience.
Own cash flow forecasting and liquidity planning, ensuring the business has clear visibility of short-, medium-, and long-term cash requirements.
Monitor working capital performance, including debtors, creditors, inventory, and cash conversion, and recommend actions to improve cash generation and financial resilience.
Lead the annual budget, reforecasting, and long-range planning cycles, aligning financial targets with operational plans, commercial priorities, and expected resource requirements.
Provide forward-looking analysis on cash, profit, margin, and cost performance to support senior leadership decisions and proactive risk management.
Evaluate capital expenditure, investment proposals, and major business cases, including ROI, payback, and sensitivity analysis.
Ensure effective oversight of fixed assets, working capital, inventory costing, and cash performance in partnership with the Controller and operational teams.

Attributes

Proven ability to lead and develop finance professionals, including direct oversight of a Controller or equivalent accounting leader.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to present financial insight clearly to senior leadership and operational teams.
Strong understanding of internal controls, regulatory and compliance requirements, audit, tax, and financial governance.
Experience leading budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, capital evaluation, and performance improvement activities.
Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements, automation, and finance transformation to improve efficiency, accuracy, and decision support.
Significant finance leadership experience, including oversight of accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and business partnering.
Strong commercial acumen with the ability to interpret financial data, identify risks and opportunities, and influence senior stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Finance
5 years of leadership experience

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future.
