Key Responsibilities of the Public Engagement Coordinator:

Event Planning & Public Engagement

Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, neighborhood associations, advocacy groups, municipalities, and local leaders by representing the office at community meetings, festivals, community gatherings, parades, and public events throughout the district.
Work closely with the Communications and Constituent Services teams to draft email responses, newsletters, press releases, policy briefs, and background briefings.
Aid in the planning and coordination of new/recurring community events such as roundtables, advisory boards, community forums, resource fairs, and leadership celebrations. Coordinate outreach/promotion to help events reach a broad and diverse cross-section of the district.
Track and share information about relevant state and local grant opportunities for community organizations and small businesses, and provide assistance to organizations seeking guidance on navigating state grant processes or connecting with appropriate state agencies.

Good interpersonal and communication skills– especially strong writing skills

A demonstrated ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
Experience in community engagement, advocacy, nonprofit work, public service, event coordination, grant application, or outreach roles preferred.
Familiarity with Rochester and Monroe County preferred.
Bilingual or multilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.

Additional Information: This is a full-time position based in-person in Monroe County, and access to personal transportation to travel throughout the District is a required qualification. Work that happens during the evenings, weekends, and holidays is shared among all staff members so availability to work some evenings and weekends is a required qualification.
