Full Job Description

Job Summary

The Peer Mentoring Coordinator is responsible for developing and managing a peer mentoring program designed to foster connection, support, and personal growth amongst participants. This role involves recruiting and training peer mentors, coordinating mentoring activities, facilitating peer support groups, and promoting program participation. The coordinator ensures a welcoming, inclusive environment that promotes peer to peer learning and integration.

Duties

Recruit, interview, and onboard peer mentors aligned with program values and participant needs.
Provide direct supervision and guidance through regular check-ins and one-on-one support.
Develop and deliver structured training sessions to prepare mentors for their roles by providing mentorship, coaching, and professional development opportunities for peer mentors.
Equip mentors with tools for cultural competency, relationship building, knowledge of community resources, and skills to navigate and utilize them effectively.
Develop learning modules on communication, leadership, and ethics for mentoring support.
Build partnerships with organizations to support recruitment and visibility.
Develop and implement strategies to increase awareness and participation in the peer program.
Lead outreach initiatives to promote the mentoring program across targeted audiences.
Coordinate and facilitate peer support group meetings focused on integration. Examples include transition challenges, social connection, and well-being.
Foster peer-led engagement through mentor-led discussions and group activities.
Maintain accurate records of mentor activity, mentee progress, and overall program participation.
Prepare regular reports and share success stories to highlight the program’s impact.
Monitor group effectiveness and address challenges as they arise.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

1. Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field required with five years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This is a peer program. Personal and lived experience with disability preferred.

2. Skills and Competencies:

Demonstrated leadership, managerial and project management skills

Excellent personal and written communication skills.

Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Impeccable time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

Pay: $25.00 per hour
