Full Job Description

The Registered Dietitian will support public health nutrition initiatives by providing professional nutrition expertise, implementing nutrition policies and procedures, interpreting program regulations and directives, developing educational and training materials, and supporting program operations. The position will play a key role in nutrition education, staff development, breastfeeding promotion, and continuous improvement activities within a public health setting.

The ideal candidate is an experienced nutrition professional with strong knowledge of public health nutrition programs, adult learning principles, training development, and regulatory compliance. Experience with the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

Implement nutrition policies, procedures, regulations, and program directives.
Provide nutrition expertise and consultation in support of public health nutrition programs.
Develop, revise, and maintain nutrition education materials and training curricula for adult learners.
Plan, coordinate, and deliver nutrition-related training programs and presentations.
Interpret and apply federal, state, and local nutrition program requirements.
Support breastfeeding promotion and education initiatives.
Assist with the development and implementation of program improvement activities.
Provide administrative and technical support to public health nutrition programs.
Collaborate with internal staff and program stakeholders to support program goals and objectives.
Maintain current knowledge of evidence-based nutrition practices, public health initiatives, and program requirements.
Participate in meetings, training sessions, and other program-related activities as assigned.
Support compliance with applicable nutrition program standards and regulations.

Required Qualifications

Current registration as a Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
Bachelor's degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, Public Health Nutrition, or a related field from an accredited institution. (preferred)
Experience implementing nutrition policies and procedures.
Experience interpreting regulations and program directives.
Experience developing and revising training curricula and educational materials for adult learners.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to deliver presentations and facilitate training sessions.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Additional Position-Specific Requirements

Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) or must be able to obtain CLC certification within one year of hire.
Be trained in accordance with the Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) competency-based WIC Breastfeeding Curriculum.
Demonstrate the ability to lead, organize, and develop breastfeeding-related training programs.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program is highly preferred.
Full-time professional experience as a Dietitian/Nutritionist in a public health program.
Experience supporting public health nutrition programs.
Experience performing administrative and technical activities in support of public health nutrition initiatives.
Experience with breastfeeding education, counseling, or promotion activities.
Experience developing and delivering professional training programs.
Experience working with government-funded nutrition or community health programs.
Master's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Public Health, or a related field.
