INVENTORY CONTROL ANALYST – MANUFACTURING

Rock Hill, South Carolina
Full-Time | Salary: $60,000–$70,000 per year

ABOUT ALLIANCE PLASTICS

Alliance Plastics is a growing U.S. manufacturer of stretch film, protective paper packaging, and related products. We operate multiple manufacturing facilities and are committed to improving inventory accuracy, manufacturing efficiency, product costing, and operational accountability.

We are seeking a hands-on Inventory Control Analyst to help strengthen inventory procedures, investigate discrepancies, improve bills of materials, and ensure that transactions recorded in our ERP system accurately reflect what is happening on the plant floor.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Inventory Control Analyst will work closely with accounting, production, purchasing, receiving, engineering, warehouse personnel, and plant management.

This position will monitor inventory transactions, analyze production and material-usage variances, support BOM accuracy, coordinate cycle counts, and investigate differences between physical inventory and system records.

This is not primarily a warehouse counting position. It is an analytical manufacturing role requiring strong accounting instincts, attention to detail, and a willingness to trace materials from receiving through production and shipment.

The position will report to Alliance Plastics’ accounting leadership and support inventory-control activities across multiple manufacturing facilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Monitor raw-material, work-in-process, and finished-goods inventory transactions.
Analyze inventory quantities, values, costs, and manufacturing variances.
Identify and investigate negative inventory tiers, unusual costs, late transactions, and other inventory exceptions.
Review production reporting to ensure finished goods are entered before shipment and invoicing.
Confirm that raw-material receipts are recorded accurately and before materials are consumed in production.
Compare actual material consumption with BOM requirements and established production standards.
Investigate unfavorable material-usage, yield, scrap, and production variances.
Work with operations and engineering to review and improve BOM accuracy.
Identify manufactured items with missing, incomplete, outdated, or inaccurate BOMs.
Coordinate daily, weekly, and monthly cycle-count programs using ABC inventory classifications.
Research cycle-count discrepancies and document root causes and corrective actions.
Assist with annual physical inventories at multiple company locations.
Review inventory adjustments, transfers, receipts, production entries, scrap transactions, and unit-of-measure conversions.
Monitor plant-to-plant transfers and identify transactions that have not been completed properly at both locations.
Help reconcile inventory subledgers to the general ledger each month.
Identify duplicate, backdated, unusually large, or unsupported inventory transactions.
Monitor aging, obsolete, inactive, and slow-moving inventory.
Prepare daily and weekly inventory exception reports for accounting and plant management.
Maintain documentation supporting inventory adjustments and corrective actions.
Assist with standard-cost updates, purchase-price variance analysis, and month-end inventory reporting.
Develop dashboards and analytical reports using Excel, Power BI, or similar tools.
Help train plant personnel on receiving, production, transfer, cycle-count, and inventory procedures.
Travel to Alliance Plastics facilities to observe operations, validate inventory processes, and assist with implementation of improved controls.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, supply chain, business, data analytics, or a related field.
Three or more years of experience in manufacturing accounting, inventory control, cost accounting, supply-chain analysis, or a related role.
Working knowledge of inventory valuation, bills of materials, production reporting, material usage, WIP, scrap, and manufacturing variances.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, data reconciliation, and large-data analysis.
Ability to trace transactions and identify the operational cause of an accounting discrepancy.
Ability to communicate effectively with accounting personnel, plant managers, supervisors, warehouse employees, and production teams.
Willingness to spend time on the manufacturing floor and learn how materials physically move through the business.
Ability to travel regularly among company facilities.
Strong organizational skills, professional skepticism, and follow-through.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with Sage 100, ScanForce, or a comparable manufacturing ERP or warehouse-management system.
Experience with plastics extrusion, flexible packaging, paper converting, or another process-manufacturing environment.
Experience creating or maintaining BOMs and standard costs.
Familiarity with SQL, ODBC reporting, Power BI, or other business-intelligence tools.
Experience implementing cycle-count programs or improving inventory accuracy.
Experience working in a multi-plant manufacturing organization.
Familiarity with AI-assisted data analysis or automated anomaly-detection tools.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

The successful candidate will help Alliance Plastics:

Eliminate recurring negative inventory.
Improve the accuracy of BOMs and manufacturing standards.
Ensure receiving and production transactions are recorded on time.
Reduce unexplained inventory adjustments.
Improve cycle-count and physical-inventory accuracy.
Identify material and production variances before they accumulate.
Improve the reliability of inventory valuation, product costs, and gross margins.
Establish consistent inventory controls across all company locations.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We want someone who is curious, persistent, analytical, and comfortable asking questions.

When the physical inventory does not agree with the system, this person will not simply enter an adjustment and move on. The successful candidate will trace the transactions, visit the operating area, identify the root cause, and help prevent the problem from happening again.
