Full Job Description

About the Role

As a CNC Lathe Specialist, you will play a critical role in driving production efficiency by managing complex machine setups and optimizing manufacturing processes. You will utilize your technical expertise to troubleshoot equipment, refine CNC programs, and ensure that all components meet rigorous quality standards.

Responsibilities

Execute precise setups and advanced adjustments on CNC lathes to maintain high-volume production requirements.
Develop and optimize CNC programs, tooling, and fixturing to enhance overall machining efficiency and part quality.
Perform comprehensive first-piece inspections and utilize precision measurement tools to verify adherence to engineering specifications.
Troubleshoot complex mechanical and programming issues to minimize equipment downtime and maximize output.
Provide technical mentorship to machine operators, assisting with setup procedures and operational challenges to ensure consistent performance.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives by documenting and refining machining methods to reduce cycle times and improve safety.
Maintain accurate production records and machine performance data within ERP systems to support operational transparency.
Perform routine preventative maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and longevity.

Qualifications

Required Skills

5+ years of experience operating and setting up multi-axis CNC lathes.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex blueprints and technical schematics.
Strong command of precision measurement instruments including micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
Solid understanding of GD&T and its application in a production environment.
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve CNC machine and tooling issues.

Preferred Skills

Experience with Mazak, Nakamura, or similar high-precision CNC control systems.
Strong background in optimizing CNC programs for complex part geometries.
Prior experience in a lead or training capacity within a machine shop environment.
Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies.
