Full Job Description

Job Overview

Effective and efficient organization of the Quality Department. The Quality Manager shares responsibility for any influences that affect quality from a professional and organizational point of view. He/she must identify with the corporate objectives and collaborate in their further development. Customer's quality standards must be adhered to with consideration of the valid corporate quality management standards. QM must develop relationships with manufacturing that will foster a positive partnership, facilitate resolution with customers and internal issues, and drive systems, processes and continuous improvement. Offer support and knowledge of quality and disciplines to internal and external customers in the coordination of quality improvement efforts. Support certifications including but not limited to SQF/ HACCP and ISO.

Duties

Management of the QMS, in particular, ISO and SQF certification in all departments.
Safeguarding and improving product and process quality.
Identifying and monitoring of QM standards.
Represents the company with regards to customers and suppliers.
Identify, develop, and implement systems and processes that will ensure product conformance to specifications, including developing product specifications, procedures, and test methods as required.
Responsible for the review of new projects regarding customer requirement and the organization of initial samplings. Evaluation of results, if needed creation of informative presentations, with presentation of the results during team meetings.
Creation of inspection plans.
Adherence to laws and regulations regarding requirements for packaging with food contact.
Optimal use of all employees and inspection equipment.
Documentation of QMS key figures.
Complaint processing.
Organization of required training related to adherence to QMS standards.
Monitoring quality measures.
Implementation and control of processes for continuous quality improvement.
Implementation of the current regulations (ISO, SQF) in cooperation with management.
Participate in SQF and ISO certifications on-site audits.
Contributes effectively toward team goals, exhibits influence within a work group and continues to develop proficiency in the competency areas critical to success in the role.
Involvement in specification, implementation, testing and/or release of product.
Lead continuous improvement project teams and execute changes and improvements to the quality management system.
Resolve quality issues with suppliers and customers. Determine the nature of the nonconformance, identify responsibility and negotiate a mutually acceptable return or rework of product while preserving the Silgan Specialty Packaging Supplier/Customer relationship.
Provide technical support to manufacturing, suppliers and customers.
Motivation and further development of the department employees.
Support and adhere to all system procedures and company policies / procedures.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment. Follow all safety regulations.
Report all accidents or near misses.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or minimum 5 years experience as a Quality Manager in a manufacturing environment
Supervisory experience
Knowledge of injection molding and assembly processes is preferred
SQF Practitioner and HACCP Certification
APQP/PPAP
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to communicate effectively with management and employees of organization, as well as customers.
Knowledge of statistics, root cause analysis, and corrective action processes.
Professional and optimistic attitude, ability to work in a team environment.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Excellent computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
