Full Job Description

Prism Health is seeking PRN clinical support staff to support mobile PCR testing events across Mid Illinois. The primary responsibility is PCR sample collection in community-based settings, with strict attention to safety, documentation, and specimen handling. This role is ideal for clinicians who enjoy field-based work, can travel between sites, and can provide efficient, patient-centered support during high-volume events.

About Prism Health

Prism Health Lab is a community-based medical practice that has served Chicagoland residents since 1987. In response to the global COVID-19 pandemic, we pivoted our practice to support local communities and have made significant strides by focusing our efforts on COVID-19 specific services. To date, we have tested over 50,000 people. We’ve created eight permanent locations, each of which has an incredible story and was offered as a gift by the communities we serve. We’ve also built mobile teams that can work across the State, ready to be deployed as new hotspots arise. We’re dedicated to our neighbors and have partnered with a variety of organizations and leaders including local and County Health Departments, school districts, the City of Chicago and its Aldermen, food banks, Brookfield Zoo, and professional organizations like the Chicago Medical Society.

Description

Position Type: PRN / Per-Event (Mobile Clinics)

Service Area: Chicago, and Mid Illinois — routes may include Carbondale, Champaign, Springfield, Chicago, and surrounding areas

Pay:$150–$250 per event, based on event length (typically ~5–12 hours)

Who We’re Seeking

Medical Assistants (MA)
Phlebotomists
EMTs
CNAs
Related clinical staff with applicable patient-facing experience

Core Responsibilities

Travel to assigned event sites (and between sites as needed) as part of a mobile route.
Collect PCR specimens (e.g., nasal swabs) following established protocols.
Verify patient identity, ensure accurate labeling, and maintain specimen integrity.
Maintain infection control standards (PPE, sanitation, safe disposal).
Document collection details and complete required logs/forms accurately.
Package specimens for transport per guidelines and support the chain-of-custody steps as applicable.
Support event setup/breakdown and help maintain smooth patient flow.

Requirements

Clinical background (MA/EMT/CNA/Phlebotomy or similar) and comfort with specimen collection workflows.
Valid driver’s license + reliable vehicle; ability and willingness to drive to different locations across Illinois for mobile clinic events.
Strong attention to detail, punctuality, and professionalism.
Ability to work on-site for 5–12-hour events, depending on route length.

Salary

$120 - $250 per hour
