Full Job Description

POSITION DESCRIPTION – RESIDENCE MANAGER

REPORTS TO: Administrator

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY: The Residence Manager is responsible for the day to day operations of the assisted living facilities.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Participates in recruitment and hiring of qualified staff for the residence. This may include:

Advertising
Screening potential applicants
Managing the application process
Interviewing applicants
Checking references, criminal backgrounds and other information to verify that the individual meets employment criteria
Arranging for and participating in orientation to company and residence
Coordinating with the RN for competency testing and clinical orientation

3. Maintains personnel files for unlicensed staff with current and accurate information.

4. Establishes a system to update information for each employee, including.

Performance evaluations
In-service education
TB testing
Other information as appropriate

Initiates and conducts the performance evaluations for staff with the RN.

Schedules all unlicensed staff at the assisted living buildings:

Prepares monthly schedule for each residence
Addresses requests for changes
Approves overtime when necessary
Schedules orientations as needed

Monitors staff as delegated by the RN to assure that they are following the care plan and that they are performing the tasks appropriately.

Refers clinical issues and problems to the RN.

Supervises the non-clinical responsibilities of the unlicensed staff, including the day to day operations in the residences.

Establishes team building activities and staff recognition to support employee morale.

Manages medical records for assisted living buildings, assuring that charts are kept current and complete:

Maintains all chart forms
Prepares admission packets for new residents
Puts together all charts for new residents
Files paperwork into charts
Reviews paperwork to assure that it is current and complete

10. Coordinates medical appointments and follow-up for residents.

Prepares Clinic Referral form with direction from RN as needed.
Follows up with any new orders or changes after visit with direction from RN

Responds to phone calls from other providers and case managers related to residents with RN direction as needed.

Documents as indicated in the clinical record.

Participates in care conferences with other members of the health care team.

Is aware of and uses good safety practices, including but not limited to:

Body mechanics
Reporting of defective equipment or hazards
Wiping spills on wet floors immediately
Using Standard Precautions and appropriate infection control measures
Knowledge of emergency procedures
Reporting incidents/accidents to the Administrator on the day of occurrence

Maintains absolute confidentiality of all information pertaining to residents, families, and employees.

Promotes a safe and comfortable environment for the resident and family.

Plans, coordinates and works with staff to implement special activities/events for residents.

Plans and conducts regular resident meetings at each location.

Reviews the monthly menu for assisted living residences.

Assures that 3 meals per day plus a snack are planned
Works with RN to assure that the diet is nutritious with a variety of foods
Works with the RN to identify special dietary needs and restrictions and provide instruction to staff as appropriate
Posts the menu

Based on menu, prepares grocery list weekly or as needed.

Monitors expenses and demonstrates fiscal responsibility.

Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Recognizes and manages own stresses, which may affect work performance.

Participates in management team meetings.

Performs additional duties as assigned by the Administrator.

Adheres to all agency policies.

EXPERIENCE/JOB SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

High School Graduate
Baccalaureate degree in health-related field preferred.
Must obtain at least 30 hours of continuing education for every two years of employment in topics relevant to the operations of the residence
Must complete at least four hours of documented training related to dementia within 160 hours of starting work and two hours annually thereafter
Must be able to read, write, comprehend and carry out directions and instructions in English
Able to function effectively with minimal direct supervision
Good health status and emotional stability
Demonstrate a strong commitment to service excellence
