Service Manager - Device Repair

Location: Austin, TX

Position Summary:

The Repair Service Manager is responsible for the daily leadership and operational performance of the Repair Department. This role oversees technicians, repair workflows, quality standards, service ticket management, and continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring customer expectations, productivity goals, and compliance requirements are consistently achieved.

The ideal candidate is a strong people leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys solving operational challenges, and is committed to building a high-performing team.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership & Development

Lead, schedule, and mentor a team of repair technicians and administrative staff, promoting a collaborative and positive work environment.
Provide training and guidance on repair processes, systems, and customer service best practices.
Onboard new employees in the department and support their ramp-up to full productivity.
Conduct regular check-ins and performance feedback to support team growth and accountability.

Repair & Workflow

Oversee repair schedules and technician assignments to optimize workflow and minimize downtime.
Monitor repair job progress to ensure timely, quality delivery against service standards.
Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts, and inventory; ensure all service requests are logged and processed efficiently.
Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for parts and equipment.

Customer Experience

Address customer concerns or escalations promptly and professionally.
Provide regular, proactive updates to customers on the status of their service requests.

Process, Compliance & Reporting

Identify and implement opportunities to improve repair processes, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency.
Assist in developing and implementing department policies and procedures.
Collaborate with the Operations Manager to analyze department performance metrics and recommend improvements.
Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies; implement safety protocols to protect staff and equipment.
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive customer and company information.

Qualifications

Required

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
5+ years of leadership experience in repair operations, electronics manufacturing, technical service, or a related environment.
Experience leading and developing technical teams.
Strong understanding of repair workflows, service operations, and quality management.
Experience with service ticketing or work order management systems.
Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Strong analytical skills with experience using KPIs and operational metrics to drive performance.

Preferred

Experience repairing or supporting Apple, Samsung, Android, laptops, tablets, smartphones, or other consumer electronics.
Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma experience.
Experience with ERP, WMS, and CRM systems such as NetSuite.
Experience in warehouse, reverse logistics, or device lifecycle management.
