Full Job Description

7 Summit Pathways is a private, intimate substance abuse treatment center in Tampa, Florida, utilizing proven, medically based and evidence-driven treatment methods.

We specialize in treating substance use disorders involving illicit drugs, alcohol, prescription medications (including opioids, sedatives, and stimulants), inhalants, and gambling addiction.

Our comprehensive and personalized approach sets us apart from other Florida recovery centers. Our multidisciplinary team of physicians, therapists, counselors, and case managers work collaboratively to develop individualized treatment plans tailored to each client’s unique needs.

Position Summary

The Primary Therapist is responsible for providing high-quality clinical services, including individual therapy, group therapy, family engagement, and case management within our residential treatment program.

This role requires maintaining accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation in accordance with Florida state licensing standards and Joint Commission requirements. The Primary Therapist develops and maintains therapeutic relationships that support patient engagement, accountability, and long-term recovery success.

Key Responsibilities

Provide individual, group, and family therapy sessions
Develop, implement, and update individualized treatment plans
Conduct psychosocial assessments and clinical evaluations
Maintain thorough and accurate clinical documentation in compliance with regulatory standards
Coordinate care with medical, psychiatric, and case management teams
Facilitate family communication and education when appropriate
Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment interventions accordingly
Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings
Ensure compliance with Florida state regulations and accreditation standards

Qualifications/Education

MCAP certification or higher required
Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related field preferred
Licensure (LMHC, LCSW, LMFT) preferred

Experience

Minimum of 3 years of experience as a therapist preferred
Experience in substance abuse and co-occurring mental health treatment strongly preferred
Experience in residential treatment settings preferred

Skills & Competencies

Strong proficiency in electronic documentation systems and technology
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships
Strong clinical assessment and treatment planning skills
Ability to remain calm and clinically sound in high-stress situations
Ability to adapt to changing patient needs and program demands
Strong ethical standards and understanding of confidentiality requirements
