Full Job Description

Responsible for increasing community awareness and engagement in the program by conducting targeted community outreach. This role connects with caregivers, community organizations, and service providers through presentations, resource fairs, and other events to share program information and support access to services. This role also establishes and maintains referral relationships within the community to strengthen service pathways and ensure caregivers are linked to appropriate resources.

Organizational Values: The Community Agency for Senior Citizens (CASC) assists Staten Islanders age 60 and older to live as independently as possible in the community. We do this by working together with older adults, respecting their right to make decisions for themselves, honoring their life experiences and heritage, and recognizing the importance of friends, relatives and community in creating supportive environments for people as they age.

Position Qualifications:

· BSW, BS, BA level education is required.

· At least one (1) year of experience working in the field of aging or caregiver services preferred.

· Must be comfortable engaging with diverse caregivers and communities.

· Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook is required.

· Bi-lingual ability is a plus.

· Must have car for work related travel.

Requisite Skills and Capabilities:

· Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook required.

· Organized: ability to manage time, job responsibilities and prioritize tasks appropriately.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, detail-oriented.

· Comfortable presenting the program and the agency at outreach events, tabling, and speaking engagements.

· Strong networking skills and ability to identify new outreach opportunities.

· Self-disciplined: manages own time, meets deadlines, works well under pressure, and operates autonomously to achieve key outcomes.

· Skilled in presenting information clearly to diverse groups. Culturally competent and able to engage individuals from diverse backgrounds.

· Creative problem-solving during crisis situations and complex client presentations.

· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

· Ability to develop and distribute outreach materials and experience in using social media for community engagement.

· Ability to work under the direction of others.

· Knowledge of Staten Island.

· Ability to work with considerable self-reliance.

· Car required for travel for work assignments.

Responsibilities:

· Identify underserved and hard-to-reach communities and proactively establish rapport with community members, service providers, houses of worship, trusted leaders, and other key stakeholders.

· Seek out isolated and difficult-to-identify caregivers and offer information and linkage to available caregiver services and resources.

· Engage professionals who encounter caregivers (including healthcare, social service, faith-based, and community-based professionals) to educate them about caregiver issues and establish referral relationships.

· Educate caregivers and the public on caregiving topics, caregiver challenges, and available program services through presentations, workshops, and informational sessions.

· Develop and implement an outreach strategy within the assigned catchment area to engage underserved and hard-to-reach caregivers, including younger and sandwich-generation caregivers, individuals who may not self-identify as caregivers, socially isolated caregivers, those facing health, social, or economic barriers, caregivers in non-traditional arrangements, and caregivers supporting individuals with complex needs such as limited English proficiency, immigrant status, disabilities, or mental illness.

· Provide information about caregiver program services.

· Distribute newsletters, flyers, pamphlets, and brochures; utilize mass and digital media to share news and public activities; and deliver public presentations; attend resource and health fairs, tabling events, community meetings.

· Build and maintain relationships with community partners, including local elected officials, hospitals, clinics, health providers, and community-based organizations.

· Maintain records of outreach activities, track engagement outcomes, and report progress to program leadership as required.

· Maintain updated directory of resources, community partners, and outreach contacts.

· Will follow all NYC Aging Program Standards.

· Will participate in mandated NYSOFA, NYC Aging and CASC training and any additional trainings as assigned.

· Other duties as assigned.

· Some evening and weekend hours will be required.

Supervision and Education:

· Supervised by Program Supervisor

· Participate in team meetings

· Annual personnel review
