Company Overview

Job Summary

The Vocational coordinator is primarily responsible for providing pre-vocational and vocational assistance, job development and placement with economic self-sufficiency as the objective of the counseling process. Playing a crucial role in supporting individuals experiencing homelessness or housing instability by providing vocational guidance, training, and resources. The highest priority of a vocational program is job readiness and job development activities which result in the employment and self-sufficiency of the individual. Halo Network will provide comprehensive employment and workforce development to facilitate individuals' employment. Halo Network service will start with Self Directed Search (SDS) or Explorworks to determine individual's preference and follow up with Discovery activities for individual served under the OPWDD auspices. The purpose of these career exploration methods is to help individuals choose a career that they will be most successful in. Topics covered in this program will include but are not limited to career exploration and planning, job readiness instruction, resume writing, interviewing skills, occupational skill development, vocational technical training, and job placement and retention services.

Duties

Day Habilitation Responsibilities:

· Complete the intake for individuals referred to for vocational services. Participates in community activities with participants as assigned by supervisor.

· Prepare a written Staff Action Plan which outlines the participants’ goals and safeguards.

· Start and complete vocational discovery to identify participant's strengths, weaknesses, job readiness, and career choice.

· Develop individual job sites that take into consideration important factors such as transportation, motivation, physical skill, mobility, social skills, work behavior skills, reinforcement needs, family supports, financial considerations, and individual preferences and goals.

· Actively solicit referrals from Access-VR, SCDSS, OMH and other providers of services to persons with disabilities.

· Participate in outreach events sponsored by DOL, Access-VR, and Job Placement Consortiums.

· Complete job placement reports as required by referral source.

· Keep accurate records of all job development and placement activities by participants, including employer response, follow-up required, and amount of time spent on the activity.

· Provide vocational support services, which include intensive on-site job training, "follow along" supports, counseling and advocacy when necessary.

· Maintain close liaisons with worksite management, assuring their satisfaction with participant performance.

· Aid with resume writing and interviewing techniques as needed.

· Maintain good communication with participants and their families/advocates to facilitate successful employment outcomes.

· Establish support and maintain contact with potential employers.

· Present a professional image to the business community.

· Provide training on all job task requirements.

· Be present at participant team meetings as requested,

· Prepare, as directed, necessary reports (i.e. assessment, progress, etc.)

· Accurately complete weekly Job Coach Report/Job Development Records and monthly summaries.

Shelter Responsibilities:

· Complete intake and conduct comprehensive assessments to identify individual clients' skills, interests, and employment barriers.

· Maintain accurate daily logs records, monthly outcome reports, and files for each client.

· Mentor clients with resume writing, job searching, interview skills, and workplace etiquette.

· Assist clients in securing job placements and provide ongoing support during the transition to employment, monitoring progress towards employment and providing additional support as needed.

· Provide information and referral assistance regarding available support from appropriate social service agencies and/or community programs.

· Establish and maintain contact with potential employers.

· Work alongside Case Managers and be present at client meetings as requested.

· Prepare necessary reports as directed (assessments, progress, etc.)

Requirements

Proven experience in workforce development programs or related fields such as social work or case management.
Knowledge of employment and labor law relevant to disability employment services.
Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and autism; familiarity with addiction counseling is a plus.
Strong teaching, mentoring, recruiting, and training skills with the ability to motivate diverse populations.
Excellent interviewing skills combined with the ability to develop individualized support plans.
Background working with underserved communities to promote equitable access to employment opportunities.
Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, psychology, or a related field; additional certifications in counseling or vocational rehabilitation are preferred.Join our team as we empower individuals through meaningful employment opportunities that foster independence and community integration!
