Full Job Description

Job Summary: As a Mental Health Clinician, your role is pivotal in providing mental health, substance abuse, and support services in alignment with the Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Strengths-Based Models. Focused on an adult population grappling with mental illness, you'll deliver Behavioral Health recovery-based services, encompassing assessments, service plan development, case management, housing support, skills training, group facilitation, crisis intervention, and individual/group therapy. Your responsibilities extend to both office and field settings, with dedicated support for Service Coordinators and Peer staff on clinical and documentation matters.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Conduct Assessments: Manage a caseload and conduct comprehensive intake assessments, considering medical history, psychosocial background, and presenting symptoms to evaluate clients' mental health needs.
Diagnosis and Treatment Planning: Utilize diagnostic criteria to accurately identify provisional mental health disorders. Develop individualized treatment plans incorporating evidence-based therapeutic interventions to address clients' specific needs.
Therapeutic Interventions: Provide counseling and therapy services to individuals and/or groups, employing modalities like cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), psychotherapy, and other evidence-based techniques.
Crisis Intervention: Effectively manage crisis situations, employing intervention techniques to ensure the safety and well-being of clients experiencing acute emotional distress.
Progress Monitoring: Regularly review and assess clients' progress towards treatment goals, adjusting social rehabilitation/therapy techniques and treatment plans as needed for positive outcomes.
Documentation: Adhere to El Hogar and Sacramento County regulatory policies & procedures, maintaining accurate and timely documentation of client assessments, progress notes, treatment plans, and relevant records in compliance with regulatory and organizational requirements.
Collaboration: Work closely with a multidisciplinary team to develop comprehensive treatment plans and provide coordinated care for clients. Assist in special research or projects when needed, including creating, preparing, and distributing special reports.
Education and Support: Educate clients and their support persons about mental health conditions, coping strategies, and community resources, enhancing their overall well-being and empowering active participation in the treatment process.
Professional Development: Stay updated on the latest research and developments in the mental health field, ensuring the application of evidence-based practices. Participate in the internal and county utilization review process, maintaining credentials with BBS and meeting county requirements for licensure.
Ethics and Confidentiality: Adhere to strict ethical standards, maintaining client confidentiality per legal and professional guidelines. Ensure the protection and confidentiality of all Protected Health Information (PHI) by following agency policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience: Minimum qualifications can be met in the following ways:

· Master’s degree in Social Work or Mental Health related field with a clear and current California license or intern registration number with the Board of Behavioral Sciences. Individual must be able to be credentialed as a “Licensed Practitioner of the Healing Arts” (i.e. LMFT, LCSW, LPCC) or “Licensed Waived” (i.e. AMFT, AWSW, APCC) as defined by Sacramento County (Required)

· Knowledge of the theories, principles and techniques of family, group and individual
therapy, as well as the planning, development and implementation of comprehensive service plans.

· Experience & Knowledge of principles and techniques surrounding diagnostic assessment and interviewing, and the social, psychological, and physical aspects of mental disorders.

· Work experience with persons who have substance abuse problems, preferably
individuals who are dually diagnosed mental health & substance abuse (Preferred).

· Experience working with adults (Preferred).

· Experience with Medi-Cal requirements (Preferred).

· Knowledge of 12-Step Programs and/or personal experience with substance abuse
recovery is (Preferred).

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should know about Contact Management systems; must be able to type 35-45 words per minute; Database software; Internet software, Spreadsheet software, and Word Processing software; Ability to assimilate the County rapidly required billing software (Smartcare).

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

· Must meet the qualifications of a Licensed Professional of the Healing Arts
(LPHA) or Licensed Professional of the Healing Arts- Waived (LPHA-W) and be in the beginning process of obtaining hours for licensure in one of the following professional categories:

Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT)

Registered Clinical Social Worker (ASW)

Registered Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC)

Licensed Clinical Psychologist

Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT),

Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC)

Current, valid California Driver's License and driving record acceptable to El Hogar and the Agency’s auto insurance carrier. Current proof of personal auto insurance Compensation placement is based on Sacramento County Classification:

LPHA-W = $35.00/hr. - $42.00/hr

Licensed = $38.00/hr - $45.60

El Hogar offers a comprehensive range of employee benefits, with considerations for both full-time and part-time employees. Benefits are pro-rated for those working less than 40 hours but more than 20 hours per week. The benefits include:
