This is a two-sided role. On one side, you're a hands-on content creator — you take a video from idea to script to shoot to editing direction to thumbnail to posting on YouTube to A/B testing thumbnails to spinning it into a blog, then rinse and repeat. On the other side, you own our social presence — you build the strategy, run the calendar, grow the audience, and turn our channels into a place rural America actually wants to hang out. You'll also help develop content for our paid campaigns, including YouTube and other paid ads, so the same storytelling that builds our organic audience also drives conversions.

We're a team of tinkerers, builders, customer champions, and adventurers who take pride in solving real-world problems with clean technology. No corporate fluff, just honest work that matters.

About Us
At RPS, we're solar-powered and people-powered! Every pump that leaves our warehouse means one less costly power line or hours of manual labor — and cleaner, safer access to water. It supports healthier animals, plants, and people while boosting the resilience, independence, and self-sufficiency of rural families and communities.
We're mission-driven, impact-focused, and yes — we're as cool as it sounds. We help folks across the country pump water from off-grid ranches to remote homesteads. We're a team of tinkerers, builders, customer champions, and adventurers who take pride in solving real-world problems with end-user friendly technology. No corporate fluff, just honest work that matters.
The Job
We're looking for a Social Media & Content Marketing Specialist to join our team in Woodland, CA. Our customers include ranchers, farmers, off-gridders, pond enthusiasts, and even national forests. We provide pumps to ALL 50 STATES, which means there are lots of different folks engaging with our content.
If you love telling stories, creating engaging videos, growing a brand, and producing content that helps real people solve real problems, you'll feel right at home here.
Key Responsibilities
Content Creation
Plan, script, shoot, and edit video content in-house — webinars, YouTube videos, product demos, lifestyle clips, and short-form social (Reels, Shorts, Facebook video)
Write and design engaging text, images, and video tailored to each platform's format and audience that you’ll A/B test with every launch
Translate technical product info (solar pumps, water systems, plumbing) into clear, easy-to-understand content
Capture lifestyle and product photos/videos (often on iPhone) for campaigns
Build strategy for email copy and storytelling for email campaigns - you won’t have to do all the heavy lifting of setting up journeys, but you should have exceptional copy writing abilities with a strong understanding of calls to action, urgency and engaging customers that can naturally pair with the content we’re putting out
Social Media Strategy & Management
Develop and execute the social media strategy across our platforms (Youtube, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook) to build brand presence and grow our audience
Maintain an active editorial calendar and schedule consistent daily posts
Optimize content for SEO and platform discovery
Adapt and repurpose content so it feels native to each channel (YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok)
Aid in lead generation of organic and paid channels by building content funnels
Community Engagement
Monitor our brand channels; respond to comments and direct messages
Foster meaningful interactions and build genuine relationships with our rural and ag audience
Paid & Video Ads
Help develop content and creative for YouTube ads and other paid campaigns
Bring hands-on experience shaping video and social creative for paid performance
Understand audience segmentation — build and target the right audiences for ads rather than blasting everyone
Design and implement an A/B testing strategy for both ads and organic content — testing creative, hooks, thumbnails, audiences, and formats, then acting on what wins
Reporting & Optimization
Track KPIs such as engagement rate, reach, watch time, follower growth, and web traffic using Google Analytics and YouTube Analytics
Develop performance reports that identify successful content and areas for growth
Analyze social performance data and translate findings into actionable recommendations that improve content effectiveness and engagement
Present reporting, insights, and optimization recommendations to leadership and internal stakeholders
Conduct ongoing competitive analysis and monitor best-in-class brands, creators, and emerging platform trends
Organize and maintain content libraries
Product Launches & Collaboration
Work closely with Product Development and our Product Specialists to launch new products — building the content, messaging, and campaigns that bring a new product to market
Produce the supporting content for each launch and push it out across the social marketplace in every format: long-form YouTube videos, short-form video (Reels, Shorts), photos, and posts
Own and manage our UGC creator relationships — sourcing, coordinating, and directing creators to keep a steady pipeline of authentic content
Help organize material and filming for our YouTube affiliates and UGC creators
Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Customer Support, Engineering, Warehouse, and Sales teams
Comfortable shooting content in outdoor and agricultural settings, including farms and ranches; must be able to lift up to 25 lbs and work in variable weather conditions
We have lots of work to do, and a willingness to jump in on other projects where you have a strength or we need a hand will be well received here!
What You Bring
You're excited about work that directly impacts people's lives and our planet. You bring creativity, curiosity, and a strong sense of purpose to the table — and you're not afraid to jump in, learn fast, and make things happen.
You might be a great fit if you:
Have content creation experience — making your own videos for platforms like YouTube, TikTok, or Instagram and are comfortable filming on an iPhone. We're a low-drag filming operation, which means all of us know how to (dangerously) use an iPhone for content creation, and it works really well!
Bring a social media and marketing background with a proven eye for what engages an audience and what looks good on video and photo
Have experience developing content for paid ads (YouTube and/or paid social) — this one is expected, not a bonus
Understand audience segmentation and can build and run an A/B testing strategy across both ads and content — you know how to test, read the results, and optimize
Have a background or interest in ecommerce product marketing for a technical product — you'll work hand-in-hand with Product Development and Product Specialists to launch new pumps, so being able to translate and market technical products to a real-world audience matters
Can tell a story and simplify technical topics into clear, easy-to-understand content
Have excellent marketing copy writing skills. Copy that's to the point + impactful
Have hands-on video editing skills and can edit in-house — CapCut, Premiere, or similar — turning raw footage into polished content yourself
Bring design skills (Canva) for social graphics and marketing assets
Can leverage AI tastefully and in line with our brand guidelines — using it to boost workflow efficiency and spark ideation, without losing the authentic voice our audience connects with
Are organized, detail-oriented, and a strong note taker who can run an editorial calendar
Are comfortable working across teams and asking questions to learn quickly
Soft skills we're looking for: creative and fun visual storytelling, superb written communication, strong time management, the ability to stay on top of platform trends, and — most importantly — the ability to genuinely connect with a rural and ag-based audience.
Bonus points if you have experience with Shopify, WordPress, affiliate/UGC programs, analytics (Google, YouTube), or DTC ecommerce
Extra bonus if you have a background in outdoor living, ranching, or agriculture — previous ag-related industry experience is preferred
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
1–3 years minimum of content creation, social media, and/or marketing experience— more won't disqualify you. We evaluate based on where you are right now: what you can offer ability-wise, and whether you can pick up the parts you're missing quickly.
Solid writing portfolio and examples of video or social content (Please share a link on your resume)
