Solace View Homes is a newly established Adult Foster Care (AFC) home dedicated to providing exceptional, person-centered care for up to 12 adult residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities and mental health needs. We proudly partner with Saginaw County Community Mental Health Authority (SCCMH) and are committed to providing a safe, respectful, and home-like environment where every resident is treated with dignity and compassion.
We are seeking an experienced, compassionate, and highly organized AFC Home Manager to oversee the daily operations of our licensed AFC facility while ensuring compliance with Michigan licensing requirements, SCCMH standards, HCBS requirements, and agency policies.

Position Summary
The AFC Home Manager is responsible for the overall management of the home, ensuring residents receive high-quality care while supervising staff, maintaining regulatory compliance, coordinating services, and creating a positive, professional culture focused on resident well-being.
Essential ResponsibilitiesResident Care & Quality Assurance
- Ensure each resident receives person-centered care based on their Individual Plan of Service (IPOS).
- Promote resident rights, dignity, independence, and community integration.
- Maintain a safe, clean, welcoming, and therapeutic living environment.
- Monitor residents' physical, behavioral, and emotional well-being.
- Coordinate appointments, transportation, medications, and community activities.
- Ensure incidents, accidents, and unusual occurrences are reported promptly and accurately.
Staff Leadership
- Recruit, interview, onboard, and train Direct Care Workers.
- Develop staff schedules ensuring adequate staffing ratios at all times.
- Supervise, coach, and evaluate employees.
- Conduct regular staff meetings and ongoing education.
- Ensure employees maintain required certifications and annual training.
- Promote professionalism, accountability, and teamwork.
Compliance & Documentation
- Maintain compliance with:
- Michigan Adult Foster Care Licensing Rules
- SCCMH Provider Requirements
- HCBS Final Rule Standards
- Recipient Rights requirements
- OSHA standards
- HIPAA regulations
- Medication administration requirements
- Ensure all resident records remain accurate and current.
- Maintain complete staff personnel files.
- Prepare for licensing inspections, SCCMH audits, and quality assurance reviews.
- Monitor corrective action plans and ensure timely completion.
Medication Management
- Oversee medication administration procedures.
- Ensure Medication Administration Records (MARs) are completed accurately.
- Audit medications and documentation routinely.
- Coordinate with physicians, pharmacies, and nursing professionals.
Communication
- Serve as the primary liaison with SCCMH, guardians, families, case managers, medical providers, and licensing representatives.
- Maintain professional communication with interdisciplinary teams.
- Participate in treatment planning meetings and care conferences.
Facility Management
- Ensure the home remains inspection-ready at all times.
- Coordinate maintenance, housekeeping, safety inspections, and emergency preparedness.
- Monitor supplies, inventory, and household expenses.
- Ensure compliance with fire safety, emergency procedures, and environmental standards.
SCCMH Expectations
The AFC Home Manager will be expected to:
- Deliver high-quality, person-centered services that support resident choice and independence.
- Maintain compliance with HCBS standards and all SCCMH contractual requirements.
- Foster a culture of dignity, respect, inclusion, and recovery.
- Respond promptly to resident concerns and incidents.
- Work collaboratively with SCCMH Supports Coordinators, clinicians, and treatment teams.
- Ensure timely completion of required documentation and reporting.
- Support continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain readiness for announced and unannounced audits and site visits.
Qualifications
- Experience managing an Adult Foster Care, group home, assisted living, or similar residential program.
- Knowledge of Michigan AFC Licensing Rules and Recipient Rights.
- Experience working with adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities and mental illness.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Proficiency with electronic documentation and Microsoft Office.
- Valid Michigan driver's license with reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications*
- Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Social Work, Healthcare Administration, Psychology, Nursing, or a related field preferred.
- CPR and First Aid Certification.
- Medication Administration experience.
- Experience working with SCCMH or another Michigan Community Mental Health agency.
