Grant Financial CoordinatorMission: St. Louis
St. Louis, MO
Full-Time | Exempt

Position SummaryMission: St. Louis is seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Grant Accountant to support the financial management, compliance, reporting, and reconciliation of assigned grants, contracts, tax credits, and restricted funding sources.This role serves as a financial liaison between assigned programs/departments and the accounting team, helping ensure expenditures are properly documented, allowable, accurately coded, and aligned with organizational and funder requirements.In addition to grant-specific responsibilities, the Grant Accountant will support broader accounting operations including reconciliations, payroll support, accounts receivable, month-end close activities, and financial reporting.This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys balancing detailed financial work with cross-department collaboration in a mission-driven nonprofit environment.

Key ResponsibilitiesGrant & Financial Management

Manage a portfolio of assigned grants, contracts, and restricted funding sources
Prepare grant invoices, reimbursement requests, and financial reports
Monitor grant budgets and funding balances
Reconcile grant reports to the general ledger and supporting documentation
Track grant deadlines, reporting schedules, and compliance requirements
Support grant budget development and financial forecasting
Partner with program leadership to ensure compliance with funding requirements

General Accounting

Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations
Support payroll processing, allocations, and payroll reconciliations
Assist with accounts receivable and cash receipt processing
Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end close activities
Review expense coding and financial documentation
Support audits and financial reporting requests

Tax Credit Administration

Coordinate with the Fundraising/Development team regarding tax credit programs
Assist with tax credit applications, tracking, reconciliations, and reporting
Prepare supporting schedules and reports related to tax credit activity

Collaboration & Communication

Serve as a financial liaison between assigned departments/programs and accounting
Communicate financial deadlines and reporting requirements
Build collaborative relationships across teams
Participate in organization-wide meetings, trainings, and initiatives

QualificationsRequired

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
Strong Excel and computer skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred

2–5 years of accounting experience
Nonprofit and/or grant accounting experience
Experience with reimbursement grants or restricted funding
Experience with payroll processing or reconciliations
Experience with QuickBooks, ADP, or similar accounting/payroll systems
Familiarity with federal, state, or foundation grants
