Full Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Application Engineer for the XXXX Division designs and develops custom HVAC and air-handling systems for commercial, industrial, and specialized applications. The role ensures equipment meets customer requirements and company standards for performance, quality, durability, and serviceability while providing technical leadership and mentoring to the engineering team. Additionally, the position drives improvements to engineering tools, templates, and processes and may support business strategy through account management, customer relationships, and collaboration with sales and marketing teams.

GOAL OF POSITION
The Senior Application Engineer will develop all required technical documentation, provide accurate and competitive equipment cost estimates, and manage projects from order entry through production hand-off. This role is highly collaborative working closely with internal Sales, Controls/Electrical Engineering, Purchasing, Detailing, and Production teams to ensure all customer and project requirements are met.

FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION

Engineering

Mastery of interpreting plans, customer specifications, bid documents, and engineered drawings
Ensure unit components—HVAC, structural, mechanical, and controls—meet performance and design intent.
Design mechanical and piping systems and prepare complete submittal packages for MarCraft units.
Serve as project manager for assigned projects.
Review fabrication and shop drawings for accuracy, compliance, and alignment with approved Record Submittals.
Constantly update and provide accurate reporting to company management on short and long-term goals.
Work as technical advisor to SE’s and AE’s on all plan & spec jobs or custom applications.
Work with sister companies on product design, application, fabrication, and costing.
Participate in training of all new employees (pre-sale and post-sale engineering).
Assist Customer Service with post-delivery performance inquiries, troubleshooting, and resolution.
Provide technical guidance regarding unit operation, configuration, and field-related modifications.

Customer Service

Work with customer service/parts on technical questions related to equipment and propose ideas for cost effective solutions.
Participate in customer service meetings and perform multi-background Root Cause Analyses to quickly solve the issues and eliminate future problems through implementing improved manufacturing, design and quoting practices. Report and document all findings and look for trends and training possibilities.

EDUCATION

B.S. in an Engineering-related field (Mechanical Engineering preferred)
10+ years of directly related HVAC or custom equipment industry experience.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Strong understanding of custom HVAC equipment, mechanical systems, and control integration.
Proficiency with AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook; experience with CRM and ERP systems preferred.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Strong organizational skills with a high attention to detail.
Ability to work both independently and within a cross-functional team environment.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced setting.

· Demonstrated ability to improve engineering processes and implement new tools or programs.

· Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.

Pay: $120,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
