Full Job Description

At Dakota Steel and Trim, we manufacture metal building components, including trim, siding, and roofing products. Family-owned since 1992, we were the first metal roll former in South Dakota. With a facility in Canton SD and in Freeport MN, our service area reaches throughout the Midwest and beyond. We are searching for a motivated individual with strong leadership skills to be our new Production Supervisor in our Freeport, MN facility.

As the Second Shift Production Supervisor at Dakota Steel and Trim, you will be a key leader within the team. You will report to the Plant Supervisor and will work closely with management to maximize operational efficiency. The Second Shift Production Supervisor is accountable for all shift operations and production goals and will troubleshoot and identify process needs to maintain production levels. Candidates should expect a balance between office work and time spent in the production facility, which will include physical labor in assisting Production Specialists.

Shift schedule:

5:00 PM until done (normally 2:00AM, but is subject to change depending on workload and production needs)
Monday - Friday. Working weekends is very uncommon but not impossible.

Job Description:

Facilitate communication between departments and shifts to maintain an effective teamwork environment
Manage all production operations and strive for maximum efficiency
Utilize troubleshooting and problem-solving expertise to resolve operational problems
Take corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy
Assign cleaning tasks and maintain the sanitation schedule
Perform on-call duties for technical support during off hours
Foster a culture where safety is top priority by enforcing and maintaining our safety program
Build strong teams by selecting, orienting, and training team members
Manage and track employee headcount, attendance, vacations, and breaks
Provide leadership by delegation, coaching, performance management, and professional development of team members
Oversee quality control
Support management with maintaining the production budget
Work with our Purchasing department to monitor quality specifications of incoming raw material and inventory count

Skills and Requirements:

2+ years of successful experience in people management
2+ years of production and/or warehouse experience
Strong leadership skills
Critical thinking and attention to detail
Able to walk and/or stand on concrete floors for 8+ hours a day
Proficiency in computer systems including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
