Full Job Description

Horowitz Health is expanding and we want you to be a part of this growth! Are you passionate about supporting mental health recovery? We are looking for dedicated and motivated Clinical Trainees to join our organization, working at one of our Intensive Residential Treatment Services (IRTS) locations. Our IRTS facilities provide 24/7 intensive services focused on helping clients with mental health and medication support while supporting their transition to more independent living.

We are seeking skilled and dedicated Clinical Trainees! Under the clinical supervision of a Mental Health Professional, the Clinical Trainee contributes to delivery of quality patient care with emphasis on co-occurring disorders (CODs) and severe mental illness (SMI). The the Clinical Trainee delivers individual psychotherapy across modalities (i.e., individual, couple, and family), completes diagnostic assessments (DAs) and individual treatment plans (ITPs); in addition to, offers client education.

Locations: Saint Paul, MN

Schedule: We are looking for full-time staff! The Clinical Trainee is scheduled to work Monday-Friday, during typical business hours, but may be expected to work outside of these hours, if scheduled. Exact schedule will be determined during the interview process and may include weekends.

Job duties, include but not limited, to:

Conduct thorough assessments of clients’ mental health conditions, including diagnostic interviews and psychological testing, if appropriate and qualified.
Analyze assessment results to determine appropriate diagnoses according to the latest diagnostic criteria.
Collaborate with clients to develop ITPs based on their specific needs and goals.
Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions to client, using various modalities such as: (1) cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), (2) dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and (3) enhanced-illness management and recovery (E-IMR).
Help clients develop coping skills, manage symptoms, and improve overall psychological well-being.
Monitor and evaluate clients’ progress throughout the treatment process, making necessary adjustments to ITPs, as needed.
Assess and manage crisis situations, including: (1) suicide risk, (2) self-harm, and (3) acute psychiatric episodes. Conduct thorough risk assessments to determine the level of danger and implement appropriate safety measures.
Collaborate with emergency services and other professionals to ensure the safety and well-being of clients in crisis.
Educate clients about their mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies.
Implement rehabilitative mental health services to enhance clients’ independent living and functioning.
Foster a supportive and therapeutic environment to promote clients’ well-being.
Contribute to the development and implementation of treatment plans in collaboration with licensed professionals.
Participate in case conferences and multidisciplinary team meetings to ensure comprehensive care.
Maintain accurate and organized client records, progress notes, and treatment plans.
Complete required documentation in compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
Assist in preparing reports and summaries, as needed, for treatment reviews and audits.
Seek guidance from Mental Health Professionals and adhere to their direction/supervision.
Notify and apply to the relevant health-related licensing board to ensure compliance with their requirements.
Abide by the scope of practice guidelines and ethical standards established by the licensing board.

Education/Licensure/Certification/Experience Requirements

1. Must be enrolled in accredited graduate program to prepare for independent licensure as licensed professional (i.e., LICSW, LMFT, LP, or LPCC).

2. Willing to participate in practicum or internship as required by graduate program

3. Ability to pass a MN Department of Human Services background check

4. Knowledge of evidence-based Interventions and techniques

5. Strong communication and interpersonal skills

6. Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary treatment team

7. Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation to/from work

8. Ethical awareness and commitment to patient confidentiality

9. Willingness to learn and adapt to changing patient needs and treatment approaches

10. Strong crisis management skills
