Summary
The Quality Control Associate is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and quality of all outbound customer orders prior to shipment. This position serves as the final verification point before product leaves the warehouse by physically inspecting completed orders using the S2P quality control system. The Quality Control Associate verifies product accuracy, quantity, labeling, pallet configuration, and product condition while maintaining accurate records of discrepancies and supporting inventory integrity. This position also manages Wyoming shipments and Special Consolidation orders in accordance with company procedures. Success in this role requires exceptional attention to detail, accountability, and a commitment to providing accurate, high-quality service to our customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Verify the accuracy of all outbound customer orders within assigned Quality Control staging areas.
- Utilize the S2P quality control system to physically inspect completed orders prior to shipment.
- Confirm all order details, including but not limited to customer, product description, varietal, vintage, bottle size, quantity, lot code, special instructions, and overall product condition.
- Verify pallets are properly built, wrapped, labeled, and prepared for safe transportation.
- Identify, document, and communicate discrepancies to warehouse personnel and supervisors to ensure corrections are made prior to shipment.
- Maintain accurate records of quality control discrepancies and completed inspections.
- Manage Wyoming shipments and Special Consolidation orders in accordance with company procedures.
- Update Excellyr and other warehouse systems daily to accurately reflect shipment status and activity.
- Report damaged product, inventory discrepancies, labeling issues, or other quality concerns to management.
- Assist in maintaining inventory accuracy by identifying and communicating recurring errors or process improvements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support warehouse operations.
Other Duties
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, warehouse personnel, customer service, and management regarding quality control issues.
- Cross-train in other warehouse functions to provide operational flexibility during peak workloads and employee absences.
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and workplace safety guidelines.
- Support company initiatives focused on continuous improvement, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
- Maintain professional conduct while representing the company’s commitment to quality and accuracy.
Physical Requirements
- Work performed primarily in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures.
- Ability to operate manual and electric pallet jack.
- Regularly stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
- Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, and climb as necessary to inspect product.
- Regularly lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
- Operate handheld scanners, computers, and warehouse software throughout the shift.
- Climb ladders or step stools as needed to verify inventory.
- Perform repetitive tasks including scanning, labeling, inspecting, and documenting product.
Problem Solving Requirements
- Provide courteous and professional service to internal and external customers.
- Exercise strong attention to detail when identifying discrepancies and verifying customer orders.
- Follow established quality control procedures while using sound judgment to resolve routine issues.
- Utilize S2P, AMS, Excellyr, and other warehouse systems to research and resolve inventory or shipment discrepancies.
- Prioritize workload to meet shipping schedules while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Escalate non-routine issues or recurring discrepancies to supervisors or management for resolution.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Three to five years of warehouse, shipping, receiving, inventory control, or quality control experience preferred.
- Experience using warehouse management systems, barcode scanners, or RF technology preferred.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to consistently identify discrepancies
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Basic reading, writing, and mathematical skills.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining productivity and accuracy.
