Full Job Description

Senior Medical Receptionist at Eye Care Physicians & Surgeons is a fast-paced, full-service eye care specialty practice driven by strong values and a “Yes Clinic” philosophy. We are committed to supporting one another as a team while delivering the highest level of patient-centered care to our community.

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Medical Receptionst to serve as the first point of contact for our patients and visitors. This full-time (40 hours/week, Monday–Friday, occasional Saturdays) role is ideal for a confident, detail-oriented professional who thrives in a high-volume environment and excels at delivering exceptional customer service.

Position Overview: As a senior member of the front desk team, you will set the standard for excellence in patient access operations. You will play a key role in ensuring a seamless patient experience while supporting workflow efficiency, mentoring team members, and demonstrating leadership in daily operations.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver exceptional “first impression” service by warmly greeting and assisting patients, visitors, and staff
Oversee and perform patient check-in/check-out processes with accuracy and efficiency
Collect copayments and manage front-end financial transactions
Verify insurance eligibility and benefits; secure authorizations and referrals as required
Coordinate and schedule patient appointments while optimizing provider schedules
Troubleshoot and resolve patient and scheduling issues in real time
Serve as a resource and support for front desk staff, promoting best practices and workflow consistency
Uphold and model the organization’s “Yes Clinic” philosophy and core values in all interactions

Qualifications

Minimum of 5 years of medical office experience required; ophthalmology experience strongly preferred
Proficiency with EPM/EHR systems (NextGen or similar platforms highly desirable)
Demonstrated ability to manage high patient volume with accuracy and professionalism
Exceptional organizational, multitasking, and time management skills
Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Professional demeanor and presentation at all times

Additional Requirements

Ability to perform all physical and cognitive duties associated with the role
Flexibility to work occasional Saturday morning shifts
