Full Job Description

Medical Records Specialist

Busy Cardiology office looking for a Full-time Medical Records Specialist. Our fast-paced environment is best suited for motivated individuals who have an interest in helping patients, especially as it relates to chronic conditions and preventative care.

We staff highly qualified individuals who strive to provide the highest quality of medical care in a comfortable and pleasant environment. Compassion, integrity, and respect are three key elements in our effort to provide a personal approach to heart health.

General:

This position is responsible for creating and maintaining both paper and/or electronic versions of new and existing medical records by accurately gathering appropriate contents. In addition, this position is responsible for responding to outgoing medical records request in a timely manner.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Creates and maintains paper and electronic patient charts for multiple providers.
Gathers patient information by collecting from a variety of sources.
Responds to outgoing medical records request.
Delivers charts to assigned areas in timely manner.
Obtains and communicates messages in an accurate and timely manner.
Back up the reception team on incoming phones calls.
Demonstrates an understanding of patient confidentiality to protect the patient and clinic/corporation.
Follows policies and procedures to contribute to the efficiency of the office.
Covers for other medical records functions as requested.
Performs other administrative duties as directed.
Actively participates in monthly staff meetings.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Good customer service skills
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions in English.
Some heavy lifting may be required using proper transport techniques
Knowledge of proper sanitation, personal hygiene, and basic health and safety precautions in a clinical environment
Ability to adjust specific daily routines to fit patient flow due to unforeseen circumstances.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and staff.
HIPAA knowledge and compliance a must.
Ability to pass a drug and background check.

Required Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent

Experience: 1 years in medical healthcare setting preferred

Software Systems: NextGen, Epic, Microsoft Platform

Language: Verbal and written communication skills in English

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
