Family Resource Development Specialist

Position Summary

The Family Resource Development Specialist is responsible for recruiting, training, licensing, and supporting foster and adoptive families. This role conducts comprehensive home studies, facilitates foster/adoptive parent training, maintains licensing requirements, and works collaboratively toward achieving permanency for children through foster care and adoption services.

Essential Responsibilities

Prepare comprehensive home studies that accurately assess and document the strengths and needs of prospective foster and adoptive families.
Develop professional reports and recommendations that meet agency and regulatory standards.
Conduct Foster/Adoptive Parent Training and Relative/Kinship Caregiver Training.
Educate families regarding the unique needs of children who have experienced trauma, abuse, neglect, or other special circumstances.
Recruit prospective foster and adoptive families through community outreach and relationship-building efforts.
Maintain foster family licensing requirements and ensure compliance with state regulations and agency policies.
Support families throughout the licensing, placement, and permanency process.
Collaborate with internal teams, community partners, and stakeholders to promote positive outcomes for children and families.
Participate in permanency planning efforts through foster care and adoption services.
Respond appropriately to client needs and crisis situations as they arise.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation and case records.
Attend supervisory conferences, team meetings, and required trainings.

Qualifications

Required:

Master of Social Work (MSW) or Master's Degree in Psychology, Criminal Justice, Counseling, Drug or Alcohol Rehabilitation/Counseling, or a related field with a minimum of two (2) years of experience in protective social services, family preservation, foster care, adoption services, or case management;

Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Counseling, Drug or Alcohol Rehabilitation/Counseling, or a related field with a minimum of three (3) years of experience in protective social services, family preservation, foster care, adoption services, or case management.

Skills & Abilities

Exceptional relationship-building and interpersonal skills.
Strong written communication and professional documentation abilities.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends for training, assessments, and agency events.
Ability to respond to family crises and urgent situations as needed.
Willingness to participate in quarterly in-person supervisory conferences.
