Job Title

American Sign Language (ASL) Medical Interpreter — PRN / Per Diem, Salem, OR

Job Type & Pay

Part-time / PRN. Pay: $38.00 per hour and $200 referral bonus. Pay may be higher for interpreters accepting short-notice assignments.

Location

Chemawa Indian Health Center, 3750 Chemawa Road NE, Salem, OR 97305. In-person only — no remote work.

About the Role

DT-Trak is building a roster of qualified ASL interpreters to support patient communication at a tribal health facility near Salem, OR. You will provide in-person interpretation between healthcare providers and Deaf and Hard of Hearing patients during scheduled clinic appointments. This is intermittent, on-call work — ideal for an experienced interpreter who wants flexible, meaningful healthcare assignments close to home.

What You’ll Do

● Provide accurate, impartial ASL interpretation during scheduled medical appointments, including discussions involving medical terminology and treatment decisions.

● Arrive on time and prepared for confirmed appointments; communicate promptly if you cannot cover an assignment.

● Protect patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and facility policy.

● Maintain your interpreter certification, licensure (if applicable), and continuing education.

● Submit service records/timesheets accurately and on time.

What We’re Looking For

● Fluent in ASL and English, with demonstrated ability to interpret medical terminology and clinical conversations.

● Current interpreter certification (e.g., RID or BEI); Oregon Health Care Interpreter Registry credential a plus.

● Prior healthcare or medical interpreting experience preferred.

● Comfortable working in a clinical environment and following facility privacy/conduct requirements.

● Able to travel to Salem, OR for scheduled appointments, generally with 72 hours’ notice.

● Reliable, professional, and responsive to scheduling communications.

Schedule

On-call/intermittent, within clinic hours: Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri 8:00 AM–5:00 PM; Wed 12:30 PM–5:00 PM. No weekend or holiday coverage required. Estimated volume is limited (roughly 140 hours/year across the roster), so this works well as supplemental or freelance-style income.

Pay & Perks

● $38.00/hour, paid W-2

● $200 referral bonus for each qualified interpreter you refer who completes 90 days active

● Oregon paid sick time accrual

● Flexible, intermittent schedule
