Full Job Description

As Site Coordinator/Assistant Cook, you will:

NOTE: Position meal site in Salida and the Golden Age Center in Canon City.

Prepare all food according to approved menus and recipes, ensure meals are served at the designated time with proper portion control in a friendly, relaxing atmosphere, ensure that all staff and volunteers follow proper sanitation procedures, compile and record daily/weekly/monthly data, maintain current inventory of all foods and supplies, order food and supply items as needed, maintain data/records, prepare foods, train and supervise back-up Cook as well as any volunteers in the kitchen, serving and dining areas, work with local agencies and media to develop and promote participation and community outreach programs, maintain equipment inventory and service/condition records, and maintain data/records of all State/Local Health inspections.

Required Competencies:

· Experience in quality/quantity cooking variety of foods from approved recipes.

· Knowledge of Health regulations, inventory control, budgeting.

· Obtain and maintain a current ServSafe Retail Food Handlers Certification and/or equivalent certification that meets the standards of the State Unit on Aging within six weeks of employment.

· Experience in the use of institutional kitchen equipment

· Math and problem-solving skills.

· Must be willing to deliver Meals on Wheels when needed. Must have reliable transportation and valid Colorado driver’s license and current insurance.

· Must successfully pass Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) background check.

Preferred Competencies:

· Experience working with the Elderly population

Compensation:

24 hours per week - $18.00 to $19.00 per hour, depending on experience
