Full Job Description

Compounding Manager PharmacistPosition Overview

Musely Compounding Pharmacy is a fast-growing non-sterile compounding pharmacy and a fulfillment partner for our parent company, Musely.com. We are seeking an experienced Compounding Manager Pharmacist to oversee our pharmacy compounding technicians and support the day-to-day operations of our compounding department.

This is a management-focused pharmacist position specifically responsible for leading compounding technicians, ensuring compounding procedures are followed, and managing pharmacy inventory and workflow.

This position is not a public-facing role. There is no patient interaction, no answering phones, and no weekend work or weekend on-call/checking responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Manage, supervise, and provide day-to-day leadership to pharmacy compounding technicians.
Oversee the workflow and productivity of the compounding department.
Ensure compounding technicians follow established procedures, formulas, Master Formulation Records (MFRs), and applicable pharmacy standards.
Review MFRs and compounding documentation to verify that procedures are being followed accurately and consistently.
Monitor the quality, accuracy, and efficiency of the compounding process.
Train, coach, and develop compounding technicians to maintain high standards of performance and compliance.
Assist with establishing and maintaining appropriate compounding processes, procedures, and workflows.
Identify operational issues and work with pharmacy leadership to implement solutions.
Manage pharmacy inventory, including monitoring ingredient and supply levels, identifying shortages, and coordinating replenishment.
Monitor inventory usage and help maintain appropriate inventory levels to support daily production.
Assist with inventory organization, expiration-date monitoring, and proper storage of compounding ingredients and supplies.
Work closely with pharmacy leadership and other departments to ensure the compounding department has the resources necessary to meet production demands.
Ensure appropriate documentation and records are maintained.
Support compliance with applicable federal and state pharmacy requirements and company policies.
Help maintain a clean, organized, and efficient compounding environment.
Provide leadership and accountability for the compounding technician team.

Qualifications

Current and active pharmacist license in good standing.
PharmD or equivalent pharmacy degree.
Previous pharmacy management or supervisory experience is required.
Experience managing pharmacy technicians is strongly preferred.
Non-sterile compounding experience is strongly preferred.
Strong understanding of pharmacy compounding procedures and documentation.
Experience working with Master Formulation Records (MFRs) and compounding processes.
Strong organizational and inventory management skills.
Ability to manage a high-volume pharmacy operation while maintaining accuracy and quality.
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to train, coach, and hold team members accountable to established standards.
Willingness and ability to obtain pharmacist licenses in additional states as required by the business.

Work Environment

This is a behind-the-scenes pharmacy management position focused on compounding operations and technician management.

No public interaction.
No patient-facing responsibilities.
No answering phones.
No weekends.
No weekend on-call or weekend prescription-checking responsibilities.
Primary focus is managing the compounding technician team, compounding operations, workflow, and inventory.
This is a high-volume pharmacy environment where organization, leadership, and attention to detail are essential.
