Full Job Description

Are you a skilled and experienced tax professional looking for a leadership role? Join our growing accounting firm with locations in Ketchikan, Alaska and San Antonio, Texas as a Tax Manager. We are seeking a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or CPA candidate with at least five years of tax experience to join our tax department and provide high-quality tax and consulting services to our clients.

Responsibilities:

Manage and supervise the tax staff associates
Prepare and review complex individual, business, and corporate tax returns
Conduct tax research and analysis to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations
Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations and communicate relevant updates to the team and clients
Assist with tax audits and represent clients before tax authorities, if necessary
Review and assist bookkeeping staff for accounting services to non-tax client engagements

Client Management

Serve as contact for assigned clients
Build and maintain long-term client relationships, providing exceptional client service
Advise clients on tax planning strategies and identify tax-saving opportunities
Assist clients with IRS and state notices when needed

Qualifications

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or actively pursuing CPA certification
Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field; advanced degree in accounting is a plus
Five or more years of experience in tax, preferably in a public accounting firm
In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Ability to lead and develop a team of tax professionals
Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational and time management skills
