What We're Looking For:

As a Medical Assistant, you will support our physicians in providing high-quality patient care while ensuring smooth office operations. You will be responsible for ensuring patients are roomed in a timely manner, scribing during office visits, assisting with procedures, and performing various other clinical and administrative tasks.

We’re not just looking for someone to follow instructions; we’re looking for someone who takes initiative. The ideal candidate is a true clinical partner to the physician, able to anticipate their needs and help the visit run smoothly without requiring constant direction. You should be confident learning the provider’s workflow, adapting to their style, and creating space for them to focus on patient care.

You don’t need to know everything on day one, but you do need to be the kind of person who says, “I’m not sure, but I’ll find out.” We value curiosity, accountability, and a willingness to learn.

Equally important is the ability to communicate professionally and appropriately with patients and with co-workers. We’re looking for someone who is warm and accommodating while also knowing how to maintain appropriate boundaries and clearly explain clinic policies. Common sense, sound judgment, and the ability to navigate day-to-day situations with logic and maturity are key to success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Support

Assist with dermatologic procedures such as biopsies, cryotherapy, excisions, and cosmetic treatments
Scribe during patient visits, ensuring accurate and timely EMR documentation
Prepare and process lab specimens (e.g., biopsies, skin samples)
Ensure proper sterilization and maintenance of medical equipment

Patient Interaction & Education

Greet and room patients, prepare them for procedures, and explain what to expect
Review pathology and lab results with patients per provider direction
Provide post-procedure instructions and general skincare guidance

Administrative & Operational Support

Schedule appointments and manage follow-ups
Submit medication prior authorizations and respond to patient inquiries
Maintain medical supply inventory and monitor stock levels
Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and all applicable regulatory standards

Qualifications:

Required:

High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to accurately perform basic medical math and dosage conversions
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to prioritize tasks in a busy medical environment
Commitment to patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
Previous experience as a paid medical assistant, preference given to those with experience in medical dermatology.

Preferred:

Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program

Physical Requirements:

This role requires the ability to move between patient rooms and exam areas frequently, stand for extended periods during procedures, and occasionally lift or move equipment and supplies up to 25 pounds.
Manual dexterity for handling instruments and patient care.

Employment with Del Mar M.E.D. is at-will and may be terminated by either party at any time, with or without cause or notice, in accordance with applicable laws.
