KENSINGTON VETERINARY HOSPITAL

Assistant Manager

Full-Time Monday–Friday, 8:30am–5:30pm $26.50–$31.00/hr DOE

We’re a privately owned, independent veterinary practice in the central San Diego — and we intend to stay that way. No private equity. No corporate playbook. Just a team of people who genuinely love what they do, led by an owner who is deeply invested in the wellbeing of her staff and the animals and families we serve.

We’re looking for an Assistant Manager who will grow with us — someone who brings operational savvy and a big heart in equal measure. This is a hands-on leadership role at the center of a hospital that takes its work seriously and has a lot of fun doing it.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Operations & Scheduling

Support daily hospital flow — appointments, surgeries, staffing coverage, and scheduling
Manage and maintain employee schedules, ensuring fair coverage and continuity of care
Oversee appointment scheduling within our Pulse system and coordinate DVM calendars
Ensure compliance with timekeeping, meal/rest break, and attendance policies

Team Leadership & Culture

Lead by example: model the conduct, communication, and accountability you want to see
Provide coaching and support to staff; participate in performance conversations as needed
Attend and actively contribute to leadership and all-staff meetings
Document employee conversations and share with leadership as appropriate

Training & Development

Oversee onboarding and ongoing training for new team members
Support the development and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs)

Inventory & Compliance

Maintain accurate inventory counts, ordering, and receiving processes
Manage and organize pharmacy inventory
Manage safety documentation, MSDS binders, and Workers’ Comp records
Conduct safety orientations for new and existing staff

Clinical Floor Support

Step into Veterinary Receptionist or Technical Assistant roles when needed — this is a team-first environment
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Veterinary Assistant Controlled Drug Permit
