Full Job Description

Hyatt Place Newark Silicon Valley is seeking a Front Office Agent with prior and recent experience as a Hotel's Front Desk Agent who can contribute to our commitment to exceptional guest service, operational excellence, and teamwork. .

This is not an entry-level role.

PLEASE ONLY APPLY if you have minimum 1 year of recent experience as a Hotel Front Desk agent.

We are looking for individuals who already understand hotel standards, systems, and guest expectations—and can execute without training.

This role is ideal for someone who values high standards, takes ownership, and delivers a welcoming, efficient, and professional guest experience. The Front Office Agent plays a key role in creating a “larger than home” experience for our guests while maintaining a clean, comfortable, and inviting environment.

Hotel is conveniently located off I-880 in Newark, with an easy commute from Fremont, Union City, Hayward, Milpitas and San Jose, and Minutes from Tesla Fremont Factory and major Silicon Valley employers.

Important Requirement (Must-Have – Please Read Carefully)

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet all of the following requirements:

Minimum 1 year of recent experience working at a branded hotel's Front Desk (Hyatt preferred)
Hands-on experience using OPERA preferred
Proven ability to deliver friendly, professional, and guest-focused service

Key Responsibilities

As a Front Office Agent, you will be responsible for delivering outstanding guest service and ensuring smooth hotel operations. Key responsibilities include:

Greet guests and complete the check-in process, including verifying information, assigning rooms, and issuing keys
Handle guest check-out, billing, and payment processing accurately (cash, credit, debit, etc.)
Maintain strong knowledge of hotel offerings, room types, rates, promotions, and local area information
Respond to guest inquiries and resolve issues promptly, professionally, and efficiently
Manage guest requests, messages, and special accommodations
Use up-selling techniques to promote hotel services and maximize revenue
Handle guest concerns and complaints with a focus on resolution and satisfaction
Ensure compliance with hotel procedures, audit standards, and operational policies
Assist with bar/lounge (Hyatt Place Gallery/Bar) operations as needed
Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming front desk environment
Work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays

Qualifications

Minimum 1 year of experience at a branded hotel
Experience with OPERA PMS preferred
Strong communication skills (spoken and written English)
Ability to work in a fast-paced, guest-facing environment
Strong multitasking and problem-solving skills
Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently
Must be 18 years or older
Experience handling complex front office operations and escalations, with strong experience in advanced Oracle OPERA PMS functionalities and demonstrated expertise in accurate guest billing and invoicing, including independently resolving discrepancies (preferred, not required).
High school diploma or equivalent required
Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, etc.)
Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 20 lbs
Flexible availability for AM/PM shifts, weekends, and holidays
