Full Job Description

Position Overview

Storage Corner Group is seeking an experienced Construction / Project Manager to lead capital improvement, entitlement, and permitting efforts across our California self-storage portfolio. This role goes beyond traditional capex management, you will coordinate with vendors, architects, contractors, and municipal agencies to support complex renovations, entitlement processes, city permitting, and development approvals alongside ongoing facility renovation and maintenance programs. Working closely with Property Managers and the corporate acquisitions and operations team, you will ensure projects are delivered on scope, on time, and within budget across our (rapidly growing) eight Bay Area locations spanning from Sonoma County to Monterey.

This is a fully field-based position with significant growth opportunity. As SCG continues to expand its California footprint, this role is structured to grow in seniority and scope, with a long-term path toward broader organizational responsibilities, including participation in acquisitions and investment activity.

Title and compensation may be adjusted to Senior Construction Manager based on experience.

Key Responsibilities

Own end-to-end execution of all annual capital improvement projects across assigned California facilities
Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and municipal agencies to support entitlement applications and city permitting processes
Maintain correct project scope, schedule, and budget; provide monthly and year-to-date budget vs. actual reporting
Manage day-to-day cost control, expense tracking, and site improvement strategies in coordination with Property Managers and Regional Managers
Prepare and roll up annual capex and deferred maintenance budgets for corporate review
Conduct formal monthly facility reviews and at-minimum quarterly on-site visits per property; assess deferred maintenance schedules, offline/damaged unit inventory, and overall physical condition
Source, bid, and manage local contractors, vendors, and subcontractors across multiple concurrent projects
Liaise with the Investment team on new projects, due diligence support, entitlement status, and anticipated opening or conversion timelines
Visit acquisition and redevelopment sites to assess physical condition and provide strategic construction and entitlement direction
Conduct regular regional calls and property visits with Property Managers to ensure consistent application of company operating standards
Produce key performance reports on construction activity, entitlement progress, facility services, and capital expenditures for corporate leadership

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required
5+ years of multi-site construction or facility management in commercial, self storage or industrial realestate
Demonstrated experience navigating city permitting, entitlement processes, or development approvals in California
Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects across geographically dispersed locations
Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawingsProficiency with MS Office / Google Suite, construction project management software, and AI tools
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation; regular travel across the Bay Area portfolio required

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with self-storage, industrial, and/or small-bay commercial assets
Familiarity with California building codes, permitting processes, and local entitlement timelines
Contractor license or comparable field credential a plus
