DESCRIPTION
The STEM Lab Coordinator will provide specialized consulting services to lead the planning, piloting, implementation, and sustainability of the Next Generation STEM Learning Lab Accelerator across Vimenti's four participating Full-Service Community School sites. The Coordinator will lead needs assessments, lab design, and educator professional development at each site, working in close collaboration with school-level leadership (including the Vimenti Middle School Principal), project leadership, educators, vendors, universities, and STEM partners, to ensure the successful, consistent execution of grant deliverables across all four schools.
CONTRACT TERM
Up to twenty-four (24) months, subject to grant funding and organizational needs.
SCOPE OF SERVICES
· Lead planning and implementation of STEM Learning Labs across all four participating Full-Service Community School sites (Vimenti School and three additional schools). Conduct site-specific needs assessments at each of the four schools and develop tailored implementation plans for each.
· Establish and facilitate a cross-site Coordination Council to align planning, sequencing, and rollout across all four schools.
· Coordinate the design, procurement, installation, and configuration of STEM laboratory equipment and instructional technologies at each site.
· Coordinate external vendors, consultants, and technical partners supporting lab setup and programming.
· Support curriculum planning aligned with NGSS, Puerto Rico Core Standards, robotics, engineering design, coding, AI, and project-based learning, adapted as needed to each school's context.
· Design and facilitate educator professional development, coaching, and communities of practice across all four sites, including both site-specific and shared/centralized training sessions.
· Collaborate with universities, STEM organizations, and industry partners on behalf of the initiative as a whole.
· Support pilot implementation at the lead site (Vimenti School) and oversee phased replication and refinement of the STEM instructional model at the three additional schools.
· Develop implementation guides, operational procedures, and sustainability plans applicable across all sites.
· Collect site-level and initiative-wide implementation data, and prepare consolidated reports, deliverables, and recommendations for project leadership and grant compliance.
· Participate in project meetings with school-level leadership at each site, as well as with overall project leadership, and provide regular implementation updates across all four schools.
· Travel among the four participating school sites as needed to fulfill coordination and oversight responsibilities.
· Perform other consulting services directly related to the successful implementation of the project.
KEY DELIVERABLES
· Site-specific needs assessment reports for each of the four participating schools
· STEM Lab implementation plans for each site
· Procurement recommendations per site, including equipment and instructional technology specifications
· Cross-site implementation timeline with milestones, sequencing, and site-level ownership
· Teacher professional development plan and training materials, including both site-specific and shared/centralized training components
· Operational STEM Lab procedures for each site
· Coordination Council meeting records and cross-site alignment updates
· Quarterly progress reports covering all four sites
· Final implementation and sustainability report, with site-by-site outcomes and a consolidated view of the initiative as a whole
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
Consultant performance will be evaluated based on the timely completion of agreed deliverables across all four participating school sites; consistency and quality of STEM Lab implementation across sites, including fidelity to the shared instructional model while allowing for site-specific adaptation; adherence to the cross-site implementation timeline and milestones; effectiveness of collaboration with school-level leadership at each of the four schools, project leadership, and external partners; leadership of the Coordination Council and its contribution to cross-site alignment; and compliance with grant reporting and administrative requirements.
INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR STATUS
The Consultant shall perform services as an independent contractor and not as an employee of Vimenti. The Consultant is responsible for all applicable taxes, licenses, insurance, and business expenses unless otherwise provided in the consulting agreement. The Consultant retains discretion over the means and methods of performing the services while meeting agreed project milestones, deliverables, and deadlines, and while coordinating within the governance structure (including the Coordination Council) established for the initiative.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
The Consultant will report to Vimenti's Director of Expansion and Incubation, who will provide overall project oversight and serve as the primary point of contact for coordination-related matters. The Consultant will also collaborate closely with school-level leadership at each of the four participating sites, instructional staff, project partners, and grant personnel to ensure aligned execution across the initiative
REQUIREMENTS
Education and/or Experience: Master's degree from an accredited institution in STEAM, engineering, science education, educational technology, computer science, or a related field; OR a Bachelor's degree in one of the above fields with a minimum of 5-6 years of equivalent relevant experience. Minimum of 3 years of experience leading educational initiatives, instructional innovation projects, or STEM/STEAM programs, ideally across multiple school sites.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including strong written and oral proficiency in both English and Spanish, required. Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate across multiple sites and stakeholder groups, with a proactive orientation and strong academic and leadership credibility. Ability to motivate students and teachers through a visible, approachable, and positive leadership presence. Strong technological skills, including the ability to research and evaluate relevant educational and STEM developments. Strong organizational and time management skills, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects across sites. Ability to develop and manage a project budget and allocated resources across the initiative.
Physical Demands: This role requires regular travel among the four participating school sites. Individuals may need to sit, stand, or walk for periods throughout the day, including while conducting site visits and facilitating in-person training sessions. May occasionally need to lift or move lab equipment or materials (up to 15 lbs) using proper lifting techniques.
Mental Demands: Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources. Identifying the underlying principles, reasons, or facts of information by breaking down information or data into separate parts. Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems across multiple sites.
