Job Overview
PRISA Hospitality is seeking an energetic, relationship-driven, and results-oriented sales professional to support the opening and ongoing success of the dual-branded Hampton by Hilton San Juan and Homewood Suites by Hilton San Juan.
The Group Sales & Events Manager is responsible for proactively generating and securing new business within the Corporate, Association, and Local Catering markets. This position focuses on increasing hotel revenue by selling guestrooms, meeting space, and catering services while developing long-term client relationships and delivering exceptional customer experiences throughout the sales process.
The Group Sales & Events Manager will identify new business opportunities, negotiate contracts, conduct site inspections, coordinate client requirements, and ensure a seamless transition from sales to event execution.
As a key member of the hotel's opening team, this position plays an important role in positioning the hotel as one of San Juan's preferred venues for corporate meetings, association events, and local social and business functions.
Principal Responsibilities
Business Development & Sales
- Prospect, solicit, and secure new Corporate, Association, Government, Local Catering, and Group business.
- Develop strategic sales plans to maximize group room nights, meeting space utilization, and catering revenue.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients, third-party planners, and community organizations.
- Conduct outside sales calls, networking events, industry functions, and client visits to generate new business.
- Identify opportunities to increase market share through proactive prospecting and relationship building.
Account Management
- Develop and maintain long-term relationships with assigned accounts while continuously identifying opportunities for new business.
- Prepare customized proposals, presentations, contracts, and sales agreements.
- Conduct engaging hotel site inspections tailored to each client's needs.
- Maintain accurate account information, activities, and booking details within Delphi and other Hilton sales systems.
- Negotiate contracts while protecting hotel profitability and maximizing customer satisfaction.
Group & Catering Sales
- Sell guestrooms, meeting space, catering services, and event packages for corporate meetings, association conferences, training sessions, board meetings, and local social events.
- Collaborate with the Food & Beverage Manager to develop creative event solutions and exceptional catering experiences.
- Maximize banquet revenue through menu enhancements, upselling, and additional service offerings.
- Ensure all group and catering business is accurately documented and communicated to hotel operations.
Revenue Generation
- Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue goals for guestrooms, catering, and meeting space.
- Monitor pace, booking trends, market conditions, and competitor activity.
- Partner with Revenue Management to optimize group pricing and business mix.
- Identify opportunities to increase average catering spend, banquet revenue, and total account production.
- Support overall hotel profitability by maximizing total revenue opportunities.
Guest Experience
- Deliver exceptional customer service throughout the sales cycle.
- Build trust through responsiveness, professionalism, and proactive communication.
- Resolve customer concerns quickly while protecting long-term client relationships.
- Encourage repeat business and referrals through memorable service experiences.
Sales Administration
- Maintain accurate sales activities, account production, and pipeline information within Delphi.
- Prepare weekly sales reports, forecasts, and production updates.
- Maintain contract files, correspondence, and client documentation.
- Participate in weekly sales meetings and strategic planning sessions.
Pre-Opening Responsibilities
- Assist in establishing the hotel's presence within the San Juan corporate and association markets.
- Build an active sales pipeline prior to hotel opening.
- Participate in hotel tours, opening events, networking activities, and community engagement.
- Develop promotional materials, opening packages, and introductory sales presentations.
- Support operational readiness activities for group and meeting business.
Additional Responsibilities
- Collaborate with PRISA leadership and hotel department leaders to achieve company objectives.
- Represent the hotel professionally within the local business community.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by the Director of Sales & Marketing.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Marketing, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) years of progressive hotel sales experience within a branded hotel environment.
- Previous experience selling Corporate, Association, Government, or Group business preferred.
- Experience selling catering events and meeting space strongly preferred.
- Experience using Delphi, Hilton sales systems, and Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
- Strong knowledge of hotel revenue management principles and group sales processes.
- Excellent presentation, negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Fully bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Flexible schedule with the ability to attend evening networking events and client functions when required.
